Well guys, it's been a rollercoaster ride with the 400i over my year or so of ownership, and sadly (and happily) I must say that she's officially off to her new owner in California as of 2pm this afternoon. On the ride out west, she'll be kept company with a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Gallardo and an SLR McLaren. So with proceeds in hand from the sale, I'll be journaling a portion of them straight away to the 308's 'restoration' fund. Ok, well not really restoration, but more like a top shelf repaint. Not that the paint is bad by any means on the car at present, but there are a few blisters starting to rear their ugly heads (door bottoms and edges of both rear 1/4 panels), not to mention a lot of road rash on the nose from 86K miles of driving, so it's simply time to treat her to a bare metal job, and I'm figuring on every bit of $10-15K between the metalwork and paint. A local bodyshop here in town that does concours restorations (on a LOT of Ferraris and Lambos) prefers to work with Glasurit products, and I know it's great, but it's also expensive, but it's certainly worth it to have the car done right. Anyhow, here are a couple of photos of the 308 in its present shape. The rust areas, which are hard to see in the photos are at the rear edge of each rear wheel arch.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

Congrats on finally selling the car! As I'm considering selling my 400i, may I ask what you got for yours?

Sure, I finally let it go for $20K.

Although keep in mind, my car needed new tires, the rich running sorted out and a little electrical fiddling here and there. So I got what I felt it was worth anyways.

    Cheers,

What was it? I don't remember the specifics. Was it the red on tan automatic?

Blisters or no, she still looks nice! She'll be breathtaking by the time you're done.

How was 400i ownership for you? Sounds like you had a mixed experience.
