I do not use this one any-more, but from memory it was readable despite the view angle. As far as the sunlight is concerned none of these displays are easy to read during the sunrise/sunset. Also you do not need to read the display due to the nice ergonomy of the buttons.

Looks like a becker from a Ferrari 360.

Period correct radio are quite expensive, I am quite happy with Philips as they do sound good and are not horrendously expensive compared to cheapy OEM (BLAUPUNKT?), Becker, Alpine, Jvc or Nakamichi.

I installed a Kenwood KDC-X304 eXcelon CD Stereo Receiver w/Bluetooth, as only handsfree calling is legal in Massachusetts. Completely non-original looking but does everything I need. I love listening to music when I’m driving the 400.

MY 78 400GT still has its original cassette radio, VOXSON (Italy). I suspect my vehicle was for Italian delivery. Used the cassette with one of the converters to plug into a cellphone and used Sirius XM. The car has new speakers so the sound wasn't all that bad. However when I upgraded to an Iphone 13 that no longer has a jack, I haven't used the radio since.

I am using the car with a period correct tape plajer , a line out level converter, period correct amp and new speakers. I also bought new blank tapes. Works very nicely.

I used to have a becker mexico electronic. Good sound too and would be period correct in a gen2 400i.

So it's possible to have a reasonably goog sound out of period correct gear.

This one was made in 1988. I think the SQR06 was fitted in the 412 (together with an amplifier in the trunk). Not sure which SQR06 though as there were so many variants (Tucson, Berlin,...)

I have an extra original Blaupunkt for the 412.

Send me a PM if you are looking for one.
