Were the Ser. 1 400i fitted with mag wheels or aluminum wheels? Mine is a 1980 ('79 build). It appears that mine are aluminum. All comments welcome. Thank you. Jq.

Your early 400i OM says the stock wheels are "light alloy" same as stock 308 wheels (which I believe is an aluminum alloy with ~40% magnesium -- which is a lot of magnesium and not a typical aluminum alloy used for wheels, but is often wrongly called being a "magnesium wheel" here).

What is your evidence "that mine are aluminum"?

Thank you Steve. One of my right wheels have parallel parking scuffs, and the look exactly like the same scuff on my Vette American Racing brand aluminum wheels. The F-car wheels are scuffed right down through the coating(s). I carefully scraped and sanded the scuff and they shine
like aluminum, not dull like mags. I know that I really want them to be aluminum after I saw the film of that Ferrari in So. Cal burn to the ground almost instantly when his mags caught fire after a street racing crash. Like we say in Montana,"You can wish in one hand, and s..t in the other, and watch which one fills up faster". Thanks. Jq.
