Isn't it a little misleading to state NO RESERVE and then list a starting bid of $29,900?

I always thought "No Reserve" meant the highest bid wins.

It also seems strange there is no contact info listed (telephone #) to inquire about the car.

If it were red, $25,000. Blue, a bit less.

Whats with the gold and silver paint on the bottom side components? I am all for detailing, but that looks a bit overdone.

This car was the subject of a previous post entitled 44471 on E-Bay. It's a page back.

The car was being offered out of California at the time. The car still has the Cali plates on in the pics.

No reserve simply means that there isn't a "hidden value" when which surpassed, makes the bid valid and thus a legal sale. There is no reserve here, however, the opening bid is high. Nothing misleading about it...that's just how auctions work.

It looks scruffy to me. The rattle can job underneath is something I'd expect on some jacked up Camaro.

That's the new Krylon CadPlate-In-A-Can. It even renews 20+ year-old suspension bushings!!!

Hi: this car was back on the market in Florida at $29,900. Do you remember what the price was when you saw it? Just curious... also did you find out if the sunroof was an after market addition? I have never seen one on a 400 or 400i.... ?! Thanks

The sunroof might be original. The one in my 400i is.

That's pretty cool. this site is pretty amazing. I think he sold it to this guy in Florida a few months ago. I think it is a luxury car dealership. At any rate, he has it up for sale. I'd love to touch base with John about his old car so I can get a sense of how it is and what work it might need. One nice thing about it being a previous CAL car is that I would not have to worry about smog.

As noted here, we're curious about the condition underlying all of that, um, touch-up for lack of a better word. Any chance you could shed some light on the real condition of the car when John sold it?

Looks like it might be a good car underneath, OR hugely dilappadated with lots of superficial dressing-up for the pics (why I haven't bothered to look at it seriously). We're fortunate to have an astute group of folks here to (hopefully) steer us away from the nightmares, and a better background would be helpful, if you could provide it.

Did John put the Koni coilovers on the 400? I would like to make this conversion and would like to know how this changed the ride and handling? Additionally, which shocks and spring weights where used?

Thanks Aidan. Interestingly, one of the Ferrari guys here in town tells me that no 400i was ever shipped from Modena with a sunroof and that they are all aftermarket. Do you have a maranello invoice with the sunroof listed? Just out of curiosity and not that I question your sincerity.... its just that these cars generate a lot of interesting comments and I am getting really confused. Thanks!

I've been following this one with interest, and it looks as though the price finally took a turn south... it was $29,900 for a looong time, but now it is $21,900 - and in the text of the auction it says that there's no reserve at that price either...

I'm still unclear on the Krylon touch-up underneath, and about four auctions ago I asked that question of the seller but got no response... so tempting now...

Thanks Stefano... was your friend the owner who sold it to this guy, or a few owners previous?

The car also comes with no tools or luggage, can anyone tell me if both were originally sold with the cars? My understanding is that Schedoni started making luggage for Ferrari in the late 70s? Was it optional, or did all cars come with it?

Does anyone here have a 400 with all original keys/manuals/tools/luggage? I never see a lot of posts about these "accessories" and the For Sale ads don't seem to often mention them...

i have all my accessiories that came with the car, but no luggage with the 400.p.s. i posted a picture of that car when i had my car at the pasadena ferrari concourse. the interior was horrible, so i guess they did a full upgrade on it..
