Where do you prefer to have your Ferrai serviced/maintained? Please feel free to add experiances good, bad, or indifferent to this post. Or just submit choice 11 "I have a Porsche it doesn't break down".
how about turning this into a voting question..... (it would be anonymous too.) the down side...supporters of this board might get a wee bit upset. Where do you prefer to go. (only vote if you've used their service in the past) WWoC FoLI FoCNJ CC RPM etc. other independent Where do you not suggest people go (only vote if you've used their service in the past) WWoC FoLI FoCNJ CC RPM etc. other independent
I've used FoLI for many things. Major service, "Check Engine," light issues, etc. I've been disappointed many times, and I'm less likely to use them each time. I've used RPM for an oil change. They're great people: honest and friendly. I've used International Motorsports in Huntington (Angelo, who formerly worked for Berlinetta Motorcars). I have another sensor issue that I need to address, and I'm currently scheduled to go into Autosport Designs next week. I want to give them a try and see what they will do for me despite what I've heard about them. I've known Tom for a year and he's always very happy to talk to me and give me advice despite the fact that I haven't spent money there. Antoin too--great guy; very very knowledgable. Michael--sorry for bustin your chops asking you about your FoLI experience... I know you're busy but I thought I could have helped you with the FoLI thing, whatever it is (I still don't know) because I've had many, many dealings with the FoLI service. I really wanted to talk to you about it way back after I heard from Russ that your belt "didn't look good"... that was a long time ago now I guess.
Thats not busting my chops, everytime I call 993Guy on the phone he see's my name come up on the caller I.D. and anwsers "Ferrari of Long Island service department how can I help you?", THAT'S busting my chops .
i have not tried anyone else but classic coach for minor repairs etc. they have very nice people over there. and i am a supporter. excellent paint work for whoever needs it. but they can be very very busy during peak race season so their work is delayed or sometimes even compromised. but overall they are a very good shop. i am getting my first 30K major service done at FoLI. we will see how that works out. i have 10K miles but want everything to be nice and new. first time when i was going to buy a car, i was not given any attention from sales when i walked into the showroom. so i had a bad impression. now having a car and my recent communication with the service department has been great. they are prompt with emails/phone calls. i dont have any experience with the other shops.
Next I will use either Wide World of Cars or Classic Coach. (Well, if Autosport is outstanding, I might stick with them. But I am curious about the others!) Decisions, decisions... The trick is to find a a shop that strikes a balance between the following two types of shops. One type of shop is the shop that caters to multi-millionaires who have nothing better to do than over-spend on cars and service. That shop has so much business that it doesn't care about the little guy. They have more business than they can handle, so their attitude is, "if you don't like it, don't come back." So if you're not Donald Trump or a well-known Ferrari collector, you're going to be ripped off. You will receive terrible, if any, customer service. Another shop is a shop that may do very good work, but unfortunately the shop is so little-known or desperate for business that it is forced to overcharge you when working on your car. The people in this sort of shop are very nice people and quite charming, but they know from the beginning that they need to find a way to charge you more labor hours than you had origninally hope to pay for. I'd like to find the Ferrari shop that's in the middle: someone who does excellent Ferrari work--that is, a shop that has expertise (not casual knowledge) with respect to working on Ferraris--but is trying to keep himself reputable by being fair, honest, and helpful with issues that may come up later. This shop is not complacent with its customer base.
Well, if Emil is smart, he will arrive early, have lunch, then later have dinner. We can then have the pleasure of watching first hand what he chooses. Oh, and what he drinks as well. There will be Gray Goose. It was originally to be free, but to have that "club" ambiance for all the playas, it will instead be 250/bottle.
oH sPlIF really? only $250? yo sam hook me up with a vip table, and i wanna get 2 bottles. charge it to pchop.
For me - used Miller Motorcars for a year after buying there. Service was fine but an unresolved sales department issue ultimately left me thinking I'd try another dealer. Went to FoLI for the two next years. Started pretty good (at least it seemed) but after a couple service manager shifts things changed from being slightly non-responsive to being jovially erratic to being unfriendly bordering on combattive. Something minor also happened to one of the visors when they were installing a new windshield for me, and I was peeved they didn't take responsibility for it. Not a major issue, but still left me feeling less good about them than I used to. Finally awhile after having my 15K major there I started paying closer attention to my invoices, and found a bunch of little stuff that still didn't merit making a big deal out of, but also didn't make me feel to good. So, I had pretty much decided to move on and try somewhere else this summer, even though I really didn't know of anywhere apart from FoLI and Miller. Found WWoC through the FNA listings. Met the EC crew late this summer and learned of CC. Heard FoCNJ was going to be opening. Met the guys at RPM after Emil's service there. ...by this time, head swimming with options when sPliF my car spins around and WhAM it's sitting on some rocks in northern NJ... and WWoC was closest so there it went. So far, so good - very responsive both to emails and phonecalls (both of these were annoyances at the last places) - we'll see how things go. From this little write-up, it's hard to give a "preferred" since I don't really care for the ones I have a history with, and I've had too little exposure to all the others. Forced to pick strictly on impression of first contact, I'll say WWoC and RPM.
