Road and Track 3.5 to 60 again for F430 and 11.7 in the quarter mile and this was in a different 430 its yellow than in the Car and Driver article. With Road and Track typically the most conservative of the US magazines I guess its time for everyone to realize the F430 HAULS A$$.

Not that i'm not glad its such a powerful car. Believe me I am ecstatic. Just a little confused why they would build a car nearly as fast as the Enzo. Those numbers are right on the heels of it, why? Doesn't make sense to me to create the ultimate super car and sell it for $650,000 when it first came out, then build a "normal" Ferrari, dare I say the word, that is almost as fast a car, maybe not as high a top end but most people don't go that fast anyway and sell it for what, $200,000?
This can only mean one thing. The next super Ferrari will have a top speed of 300 mph, 0-60 in 1.4 seconds, at a cost of 1.5 million. I'm getting on the list! :)

Different car, but same track that goes slightly downhill about halfway through the run. The 430 is a monster, but I don't think it's quite this fast.

The impression I got from the C&D article (I didn't get R&T yet) was that the track configuration may have slightly aided the acceleration results going to the higher speeds, but not the 0 to 60.

European mags seem to be around 4 or a bit under. Anyway launch controll to 60 is not the same thing as how fast the car goes from 50 to 150 and I bet an enzo or even a f40 is much faster in that speed range. Cool car though.

no doubt 430 is awesome but im more interested in their sneak peak at a possible lambo espada revival. computer sketch is way exaggerated but could still be magnificent in reality. listed as a 612 competitor but so much better looking

the enzo has 180 more hp and less weight....the 430 is not nearly as fast as the enzo..impossible...i suspect the car will run 3.9ish when production cars are tested in the u.s...ferrari usually does not underestimate its horsepower...

A really good 0-60 helps a lot in the 1/4 mile time. Like someone said, the big difference between the Enzo and the 430 will be in the 50-150 interval or some other interval in the higher ranges.

regardless of how close the 430 is to the Enzo's heels-- it's not going to be as fast around the corner, for sure!!

My Impala can easily be made to go faster than an Enzo in a straight line (easy for me, not the car-- 900hp or so should do it) but the enzo would lose me around every corner (while I likely am in the grass)

Given the specs I would think it would not be hugely quicker than the current Viper (but maybe slightly faster to sixty because of the mid-engine); I would be very surprised if its quarter mile trap speed was over 123. Nothing like the enzo once the speed is on.

Exactly, what was the trap speed? The Enzo/F50/F40 surely have much higher speeds through the lights...that's what shows the HP advantage. A quick ET *can* show good traction, but not always big HP.

Either way, the 430 rolls out!!!!

I was just comparing R&T's test drive of 360M back in 1999 with this one and noticed the two cars have identical transmission ratios except for 6th which is 0.85 vs. 0.83 :1. Also, is the two year unlimited miles for warranty a typo or is it real vs. 3 year/unlimited miles for the 360? Also, the bhp/liter is 110 vs. 112.1 for a higher compression pistons, looks like Ferrari didn;t really squeeze power out of the 4.3L engine... Other than power I would say the other critical factor is the brake and even with the CCB looks like F430 is slower to stop than the 360 imagine if they someone specs the car with those funky steel rotors... And of course the intrior noise is few db lower on F430 than the 360, I am not sure if that's good thing or bad? I can't wait to drive one and experience it first hand...

    What the....

I made a thread about the Road & Track F430 article in the Modern forum and now it has been merged to this thread.

Now could someone explain why " jim g" gets to keep his thread? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41324

He made the same thread as me ...one day after me ...but he gets the keep the thread not me.

Someone explain because I don't see the point of making a new thread from now on.

OMG, can you even imagine a F430 CS ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Either this car was a ringer, or this car is going to be INSANE.

For those who are quick to point out the downhill front straight, be aware that it does not turn downhill until halfway down, so 0-60 time should not be affected.

The Enzos HUGE advantage comes at higher speeds when it's 650 vs 483 bhp shines. Look at the 0-100 time for example, the Enzo is like 6.6, the F430 is a still awesome 8.1, thats a big difference....not to mention the Enzos apx 25 mph top speed advantage....bottom line is that the F430 is a BEAST!
