While I was at the Goodwood Revival I came across a Ferrari carrying the UK licence plate 415 UXY. Looking on the internet I have found numerous photo's of what appears to be the same car including the one linked below that has the car labelled as a 1958 196S. http://www.flickr.com/photos/helensanders/4200394310/ Unfortunately I only have the Barchetta site as a guide and cannot find a similar car built in 1958 with the same model number. Have I over looked something obvious ? Can anyone fill me in with any details on 415 UXY like a chassis number. The HPI system confirms the car was built in 1958 and the engine is 2417 cc suggesting a V6 ? Relevant answers maybe credited and used in a forthcoming blog. Thanking you in anticipation of your responses. Ralph aka Art T http://www.psychoontyres.co.uk/
It is a replica 196s. There were 12 built and this one falls into that production. It most likely has a 2.4 L Dino engine. (Or, at least the link picture is)
Thanks for your answers Ed and TX246. Any idea who made these 12 Replica's ? With 1958 listed as the year 415 UXY was built might I be correct in thinking the car used a Ferrari donor chassis ? Any idea as to what type ? Thanking you in anticipation of further responses
It most likely has a custom built chassis and does not have a Ferrari donor chassis. I can confirm that these were not built in 1958. What I have yet been able to confirm is who actually built these cars. The build quality is extremely nice. They are said to have been built in Modena by the "Old Timers" that worked for Fantuzzi. Due to risk of these people losing their pensions, they work in secret. I have found nothing that supports or contradicts these claims.
Thanks for sharing your info TX246, I love a good mystery for the sake of some well earned pensions I'll leave it there
