    Hello:

Im a current Porsche owner just starting to explore the joys of Ferrari ownership.
Ive looked at a couple of 430 spyders, one in particular has a little over 12k miles, an 05.

What kind of maintenance costs should i expect over say 3 years if i was doing about 5k miles pa?

    Thanks in advance

Annual maintenance on a 430 runs a little under $1K at the dealership. You can save a few more dollars by using a specialty shop.

thanks, thats a pleasant surprise, what is the average clutch life, i had heard that was around 15k miles so i would presumably have to factor that in at around $5k, correct?

Is there anywhere where i can look at the differences between an 05 and an 08? The price difference seems to be around $50k, curious what that gets you.

    thanks a lot

Check to make sure that the 05 has had the exhaust manifolds replaced. If not, add another 12k to the price, because they do go out, and they do that about 10 - 15k mileage. There are a few campaigns, and I'd make sure that the motor mounts, transmission mounts, various linkage issues have all been done.

I've paid about $400 for annual service in odd years and $1000 in even years since the car was new. My exhaust manifolds went out at just about 12K miles just before my warranty expired. If you are in CA, I think they are covered for 8 years but check a dealer to be sure. You can give the VIN# to any dealer to find out what TSB's have been done or are due. They are free so no big deal there. I've averaged 4K miles a year since new and the car has been very solid and reliable.

Since 95% of F owners hardly drive their cars (usually less than 3K per year), its no surprise maintenance costs appear, pleasantly, on the low side. But its not the same thing as owning a porsche; if something goes wrong expect jaw dropping bills.
