Well, as promised, I ordered and received the header heat shields. I installed them on my Capristo headers on my 430 Challenge car. I just took the car to Road Atlanta for a race weekend Dec 3-5. The heat shields installed in less than 10-minutes per side (after car was on list and undertray was removed).

They worked GREAT. I had no problems and when the car was completely warmed up I could hover my hand about 1 inch from the heat shields without feeling anything to speak of. Before the heat shield there is no way I could put may hand 1 inch from my headers (open format headers without metal heat shields).

I ran the whole weekend 'flat out' racing with no problems.

I do need to report that since the heat shields are meant to work on various models (360, 430, 430 Scud, (maybe even 355, I don't know) and these different cars each have temp probes and O2 sensors in different locations, you will need to cut holes for these sensors. I did this without any problem.

I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Can you thermally scan the header blankets after a hot run and advise what the temperatures are?

I will certainly do this sometime this winter.

    Stay tuned.
