Out of interest is there much demand for 430 Challenge cars in the USA and if so at what sort of level (USD 100K ?) - with the current currency chaos would there be any reason not to look in Europe where they are being squeezed out by noise rules ?

IMO a good well serviced 430 challenge is $125k, and that’s a car without a special livery, without significant race history (wins), maybe that raced a season as a mid/back pack car. If it’s been piled up or has no service it’s a bit under $100k. If it’s got a winning history and it’s in exceptional condition it’s probably more like $200k. Of course if it’s the Retna art car that sold years ago for $400k so who knows today. Point is these cars values are dependent on who raced them, how they did, how they are maintained, and what livery is on them.

For what it’s worth I hunted worldwide for “the right” 430 challenge and found it via a broker out of private collection in the US. Since the euro cars allow pro drivers in series they tend to be much more heavily abused from what I saw/had inspected. That plus freight, duty, etc and I just didn’t see the value in what appeared at first blush to be a relatively good deal. YMMV
