The 430 check engine light comes on after a few hundred miles indicating a vacuum leak in the gas tank. The dealer tested it and said it was the gas cap. Cap looks perfect, but cannot tell if the valve in the center of the cap is the cause. Resetting the GBD allows another few hundred mikes again. Before buying a $400 gas cap any thought?

Is the car within the U.S. federal emissions warranty period such that you can argue that it should be covered because you'd fail an emissions test with a CEL issue?

Spring for the new cap. At $400.00 .. it's one of the cheaper items you'll untimately spend.
