My dealer confirmed the first 430 CS will be delivered 2008 in Sweden. Still had a few cars left he could take orders on. Also he said no replacement for the 430 likely will be seen before 2010.
I don't know how that's possible, when FNA got a waiver from DOT for the F430 that expires before 2010......
The end of the line for the 430 in the US is August 31, 2008 due to expiration of the airbag waiver. There clearly will be a replacement shown late 2007 or early 2008 for importation by mid-2008.
Well if that is true, maybe the (whatever they call it) lesser priced car might fill in the gap until the 430 replacement is ready.
Ferrari claimed (and produced evidence for the US government) that the 430 would account for $53M in net profit in 2007. They will have a new car for the US available in the summer of 2008.
FNA stated unequivocally in its petition to the NHTSA: "Ferrari plans to produce F430 models until late 2008; at that point, the F430 will be replaced by a newly designed 8-cylinder model."
I hope that you and Jompen are both right, this would mean about a 2 year gap of no mid engine Ferrari model for the USA. This could really keep the value of the F430 way up.
Truth is - as always - somewhere in the middle. It is more than likely that there will be a CS version of the 430, It is currently slated for rnd '07/ early '08, Certain dealers are taking advantage of this to get customers to ante up large deposits....as usual, If the car is confirmed, it could get delayed in coming into production, as usual.... There will be a V8 replacement to the 430 - of course. Ferrari are not THAT stupid, It is likely that the 430 CS will be produced in greater numbers than the CS, given the success of the "recipe" etc, etc, etc
That the CS will be in the market 2008, that´s not even a question, that is a fact. My dealer says he can take orders and has it confirmed from Ferrari. Unless he Bs me that´s a fact. The replacement in 2008, I doubt any1 here knows more then a dealer unless they have spoken to a dealer they trust themselves or actually work with Ferrari. Don´t flame the messenger =)
Great news to hear that it is a fact! Please thank your dealer as he knows things that Ferrari do not! Remember the dealer depends on the importer who then in turn depends on the factory. BUT and it is a BIG BUT, the dealer takes the deposit off your hands and gets to keep it until the factory, via the importer asks for the deposit to be forwarded in order to confirm the order of the car. I am on a 430 CS list, but the IMPORTER will not take a deposit until the factory confirms the production of the car. Maybe your dealer should buy you dinner with the interest earned on the money he has taken from you...that is NOT a question, but a FACT!!
Fact from the US Department of Transportation as published in the United States Federal Register, not a rumor from your local dealer: http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/p85/398976.pdf The End-of-Life for the 430 in the US is August 31, 2008. There will be a replacement in 2008, no doubt.
If you don't want to be flamed, don't play with fire. When were dealers upgraded from "scum of the earth" to "the gospel according to the dealer"? I must have been napping when Darth Vader and the emperor's Sith lords blew into town and started running things.
