How about some weather condition? will it damage this motor mount?.Some of us that live in asia or middle east had experience super extremely hot weather and extreme humidity.

It gets pretty hot and humid in Florida too -- not sure if there is any correlation, but the engine compartment gets so hot, and with the mounts just a few inches from the exhaust manifolds, I really think the heat is a factor for the failure. I am thinking about adding some heat shielding.

Update--had a chance to drive "spiritedly" today and there is a big difference as a result of the new motor mounts. I didn't know the feel and sounds were a problem before -- tighter and smoother shifting when pushing hard, and vibration reduced. Too bad they don't last.

I learned today the 458 has heat shields for the motor mounts--an improvement over the 430. This probably due to failures on the 430 and 360. I will add some to mine.

Any aftermarket mounts that are better built? Suggestions on where to purchase?

Just replaced the motor mounts over the weekend with the help of a friend. Car is a 2006 with 19K miles.

If you have a lift/air tools/engine lifter it is very quick to do. Took about 35 mins.

A tip is do not tighten all the engine mount bolts until you have all the bolts/nuts on. Once they are on lower the engine and remove the engine lifter and tighten all the bolts. This way you don't have to spend anytime trying to line up any of the bolts.

Night and day difference with the new engine mounts. Much smoother and no rattle noise at idle.

I just what to extend a big Thank You to the OP for creating this thread and to everyone that contributed with tips and great recommendations.

My 2006 F430 spider has 28K miles now. PPI last year identified sagging motor mounts and engine vibration at idle is now pretty bad so I will have to replace my motor mounts very soon.

Since this thread is now almost 2 years old, wondering if anyone knows of a better aftermarket motor mount available?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

I too wonder if there is some aftermarket option for mounts— but I think with some heat shielding, the OEM ones might last longer...

I will go ahead and just order original part, and as suggested I will create a heat shield close to it in hoping to prolong its life.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know torque values of the motor mount bolts?

I replaced mine at 10k miles because everyone said they always go bad. Took the old ones off and couldn’t tell the difference between old/new. One caveat, car never tracked.

I want to thank the OP and everyone that contributed to this great thread.

I had bad engine vibration at idle and that was identified during PPI and also by the dealer when I had my car serviced.
I cant remember the quote I received but it was pretty high.

Based on this thread its not that difficult to replace so I tried it last weekend.
Took me about 4 hours from start to finish taking my time.

    Summary:
    Fairly easy to replace.
Original motor mount is cracked & needs replacing badly. See photos.
New one looked like its heavier duty and should last longer.
Bad vibration at idle is gone!

    Thanks!

Do the taller, separate left and right triangle shaped engine mounts go bad too? Or just these flat, rectangular pads? My PPI states motor mounts bad but they didn't identify which ones. Thanks to this thread, I'm going to do these myself, but want to make sure I get the correct pads.

I’ve only worked with the square motor mounts—and I think that’s all we are referring to...I have a bit of an update—37K miles now and had a vibration noise, so decided to check the motor mounts—they looked like new—so lasting longer than the originals. The noise was exhaust mount
I still think exhaust heat causes the mounts to fail.....

Sorry these are the only engine mounts I am aware of.

    Where are the triangle ones?
