Due to the awful weather today and clearing late I have only put 10 miles on the F-1 430.
First Impressions: The F 430 F-1 is the quickest shifting transmission I have ever driven including a 360 and 575. When you nail it in sport mode you literally have to just hold on and aim straight. It is simply an awsome tranny. With that being said and ONLY 10 miles of experience, I will still desire to always order a manual transmission. It's the old past racing history I have to deal with. Even if I could heel toe shift like I always did in the Formula Atlantic I would be faster with the F-1. I never had to deal wirh everyday traffic in my 360 so the manual was OK. The F-1 430 could be an everyday driver even in traffic.
For me, I simply enjoy the manual experience..Will I have a blast with the F-1...absolutely!!!
In other words, you simply can't go wrong.

I just took delivery of an '06 6 speed 430 Spider today after having an '05 F1 for 6 months or so. Your assessment of the F1 tranny even after 10 miles is spot on - it's extremely quick and could easily be an every day driver. Like you said, you can't go wrong either way.

Unlike your area, our weather was great today. I was able to put about 40 miles on my car and with each mile I enjoy the 6 speed more and more and miss the F1 less and less. Except for the downshifts where the F1 computer rev matches gears, the 6 speed is just as smooth, especially the 1st to 2nd gear shift where I always found the F1 "jerk" between gears no matter how soft or hard I drove the car. I particularly love the short shift throws and the position of the raised gear lever.

Have fun and enjoy your new car. She's a beauty in yellow.
