I've had a 430 for a few months and I'm working to perfect my shifting technique to achieve blissful harmony with the F1 transmission. My clutch was replace and at 99.5% new in November 2013 by a Ferrari dealer so it should be in great shape. I've noticed two less than ideal characteristics and I'd like to check with people to see if these are normal behaviors, a mechanical issue, or a technique issue. (1) When shifting down into lower gears such as 3rd or 2nd especially, I hear a slipping noise that I assume is the clutch slipping. I don't hear this when shifting up. I also don't hear it if I slow down to a stop without manually hitting the F1 levers, and let the car shift itself down in gears, 4-3-2-1 for example. (2) When shifting down to 2nd or especially 1st, sometimes the car has a bad reaction even though the RPM are well within a reasonable range (~3k). The car will jerk repeatedly and I have to either completely remove my foot from the gas until it stops, or shift up a gear and it stops. Annoying though. It makes me feel hesitant to downshift to 1st so I often shift down only to 2nd and then let the car automatically go to first, which it doesn't do until I'm stopped. I really want to achieve reliable, consistent use of the lower gears of my F1 so I can enjoy confidently shifting up and down over all RPM. Thanks
Hard to tell from the descriptions. See if you can have a passenger take a video while you are driving to demonstrate these issues and post here for comment. Even though the clutch is pretty new, the engagement settings may not be quite right. Would need to get back to a dealer to hook up to a SD3 machine to tell what's going on.
