Had my first look at a 430 today at a dealer in Frankfurt – the outside of the car did not blow me away – it did not help that the 430 was standing next to a Challenge Stradale

    the good:

    - the interior is very nice; the design and especially the carbon fiber parts

    - the engine is much larger than the 360; no space left in the engine bay; I don't want to be the person to take it out

    - the exhaust silencer is the Stradale one with different end-tips; I like them

    - lots of little improvements all around the car

    - luckily I find the back of the car neutral; I can live with it

    the bad;

    - the small lights of the 430 (they are from the 612) somehow are not in proportion to the size of the front - looks like they simply forced the new design of the lights onto the 430

    - the upper air intakes on the side are not as ugly as the first pictures indicated but they are also much more open and the black inside is visible

    - the steel brakes are a joke with the 19" wheels and in addition there is a lot of space between tire and wheel well - not nearly as nice as the CS

    - the CS is significantly lower than the 430

I am super impressed with the engine / interior but not with the new body of the 430 - somehow the combination of the changes has destroyed some of the lines / flow - still a very nice car

I really wanted the 430 to look better in person than in the photos. I'm afraid I may have to keep my 355 and pass on the 430 - In a Ferrari - For me-Looks and Sound are everything followed by Performance!

I sure hope the follow-on model goes back to the 355 profile and body lines. They may have to make it a little wider/longer to handle the bigger engine and t-axle - no problem just make the tires a little wider too just for fun. If they re-made the 355 with all the high-tech stuff they are offering now I'd be at the front of the line!

I will hang on to my CS under my 430 Spyder shows up. I can't wait to see the 430 Spdyer. Anyone got accurate shots of it?

I didnt like the 430 the first time I saw it back in November...but after seeing it again in NYC in December, the 430 is knockout.

Passing on a 430 (unless you have a CS) is like passing on Gisele Bundchen. Ferrari (nit picking aside(ok so its a 430, did they have to plaster the numbers all over the car?)) got it more right than wrong.

I bet you like it more the 2nd time you see it....You just have to get used to the changes from the 360.

I am sure there will be some type of options to delete some model designation as there is with Porsche. At the very least, one can get a new carbon fiber part on the top center of the dash that is plain, vs. with the "F430" on it.

Then again... I have not fully grown on the car yet, but if given the chance, will just get one to put in the bat cave, if nothing else.
