Hello everyone. Before beginning this topic I searched for the answers I need with limited success. Probably due to my poor skills, no doubt, so please forgive me.
I have an F430 in for some small paint work on the front and want to remove the headlights rather than tape them off. I have the bumper out of the way and this job looks to require removing the tires. The car is currently on it's wheels and not on a lift.
I did find the topic linked below that shows the lifting points, but I need to know if lifting the entire car (two post lift) and having the suspension hanging will damage any components, either electronic or mechanical. Are there any steps required to take before lifting? Anything to unhook or reset?

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/394945-really-dumb-question-how-raise-my-360-a.html

Also, I have found an exploded view of the head light mounting, but no actual instructions or steps to be taken for removal. The front bumper was an experience in itself, and instructions would have helped with that too. I'm in a time crunch and cannot afford to create any damage, just need to repair some.
If there is some literature that I can download please point me in the right direction.

Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide.

I'm not coming from a position of expertise, just sharing my opinion.

I think you need to remove the front bumper and the headlight cover inside the wheelhouse to remove the headlights. You may potentially have to remove the entire front wheelhouses to do so.

Regarding the lifting, I would say it depends on the amount of time it will be lifted. But again, from my opinion, no damage would be done if you are lifting the car from the 4 designated locations and leaving it there.

Hopefully people with more expertise can either validate or repudiate what I have said. :)

On a 360, the bumper is a snap, and the headlights a whole new ball game. I think there was a write up about it on FC. Nothing wrong with raising the car and leaving it for a bit. Simple procedure but everyone has their own way...

I have done it lift the car take the wheels off remove the wheel arch plastics and front under panel remove the front bumper bar with the ignition off remove the light electrical connections at the rear of the light and then there should be one fixing point at the front of the light and two at the rear.

You won't damage anything by having the car on a lift, as already said just make sure to use the correct lifting points. My car was on my scissor lift from Last October to April while i performed some winter maintenance on the car.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. This site is a tremendous resource. Last night I spent hours reading random topics and I'm impressed at camaraderie present here.
One more question that I've got is about wheel lug nut torque. I'll be pulling the fronts off and want to use the proper torque when I put them back on. I'll be using a ft./lbs. wrench.
    Thanks in advance!

Check out the service manual, has torque specs for everything. I do 75ftlbs which is just over the rec'd 100Nm.
