I've owned older V-12s and a 456, but I'm thinking about a '05 or '06 430 coupe as my next F-car; I'm still transfixed by 575Ms, but gated 6-spds are rarer than in early 430s. Are there any common issues with the cars- I've heard tales of exhaust manifold problems and dead engines from catalyst failures... are they true? What are the must-have options to look for... are ceramic brakes a must have? Are challenge-style wheels lighter or better than the standard double five-spokes. Any other advice for a V-8 newby? Thanks to all.

Speaking as a relatively new owner, yes, exhaust manifolds and tailpipe hangers definitely common issue (putatively fixed since 08?). Cracked and replaced on mine by 1st owner at 5K !! Imo Daytona seats are highly desirable. I have CS wheels. I think they look best. Others may disagree. Not sure re weight for the wheels, but the lug nuts for sure (titanium!).

    Hi Bruce

I believe the 05 with exhaust leaks should have been addressed by TSB by now. If you do get the F430, I would try to find a manual instead of F1.

FOSV and FOSF are great. You should be able to find the car of your choice! Maybe do a test drive? 575 is a great car but it's really old tech now. I think F430 is a better choice. The only better choices on a modern f car would be a 599 or 458.
