Hi, Tried to start the car today, lights come on all okay, but no crank/clicks, battery is fine. When I press start button just hear a faint single clonk, coming from engine bay. F1 pump primes fine. Starter motor? Appreciate any help. Thanks
I know you think the battery is fine but the light clonk suggests it is possibly not strong enough to crank - when did you last use the car and for how long ?
Hi, it is always on the battery conditioner, it started fine drove it 2 miles, and went to start it again and nothing.
How old is battery?? It can still show 12.8 volts but still be bad...I've had that on happen on several boats. Hook another 12 volt battery up to it, with jumper cables....but not through another car...just a another Good 12 volt battery on the side, just to test and eliminate the battery problem first.
Okay, also normally when you hear the electrical clicks before the car fires up. Should they still come if the starter is bad? Battery is 2.5 year old Bosch which spends most of its time on a CTEK charger.
hey - try stepping on the brake pedal with all your weight...on my 430 the brake pedal sensor went so I really had to step all the way on the brake pedal...
You will hear some clicks from the Starter, if its not getting enough amps...the clicks are a relay probably, that opens up a higher current solenoid....which makes the Starter Turn......It still sounds like a weak battery.....the chances of a starter going bad is small compared to some electrical problem with it not getting enough juice to crank. .......BUT.,.2.5 year old battery is not that old...but it could have a shorted cell or something.
I've been told that ctek can restore charge to an otherwise flat battery if needed over time and then holds a maintain mode. If such is the case and this battery was kept on a ctek ... Why won't it work to start the car? Very odd situation. OP you may like to contact ctek and ask them what they think.
Did you put a Volt meter on the battery?? should be 12.8 or above . ......Is the "Clicking" sound coming from Starter area?....because that is usually a indication of not enough Amps to close Solenoid which in turn makes the Starter turn over. ........Sometimes the Solenoid spring will get stuck and you can Tap on the Starter with a big screw driver handle and make it work....on other cars I've done that....never needed to on a ferrari.
No clicking sound, just a single faint clonk in engine area, battery is fine. Tried to whack starter no effect.
Seems weird....unless the starter gears just landed in a weird place and can't turn, maybe try rocking the car forward and backward, but I'm just guessing on what to do. I would still borrow and buy a battery and sit next to car passenger side door and run some jumper cables to battery, just to make sure.
It happened some times.... - battery is not strong, just charge it with the battery charger that comes with the car - try to put the car on neutral first, as some electrical faults does not return the gear to neutral when you press start botton and the car will not starts
