Port Botany is absolutely overflowed with containers. So the hold up is for a good reason. Many people are not getting their shipping items on time. My father ordered a few parts for his Alfa, and they have been held up by customs for roughly 2 months now. Xray scanning all the parts is time consuming and expensive. When you consider how much stuff goes through there, it sucks.

The good thing is, that they are keeping the hard drugs out of the country. I read somewhere in the SMH that customs pulls like 10-15 items off containers that are packed with drugs, a day. They are mainly in large cooking equipment and car parts from Korea and Thailand. Also they are kept in Beauticians from the Gold Coast, aparently.

My company ordered some AV equipment, LCD Bar lights {Chromabanks} for some gigs, and ended up getting them airmailed here at insane expense, but we needed them quickly. Otherwise, it would of been a long long wait for them at Botany. Customs really need to streamline their scanning process.

 

yeah, I was reading about the new computer system they put in the other day that was delaying everything due to some crashes causing database rebuilds.

Stupid time to do this sort of upgrade to importing goods (xmas time) but it is the govt bureacrat making these great decisions and BS told to them by computer company sales people who only see the commission not the problems.

I think you will be lucky if you can get the car before xmas at the clearance rate they quoted.
