Yesterday when I started the car and put on Reverse to back out of the driveway, it didn't seem to be in the Reverse gear, and wouldn't move. Then I saw the "SLOW DOWN" warning. Then I heard a high pitched squeal in the back. Then the saw "E-DIFF" on the same area for the dash. Later this changed to "E-DIFF F1S". Then the saw "E-DIFF", and this other symbol (see pic attachment).

I turned off the car and tried again, I was able to reverse out the driveway. Then drove around on 1st gear realized I can't shift out of 1st! The notice said "E-DIFF F1-S".

Then after a few minutes, I was able to shift normally. I drove to Loco Exotics and Greg checked it out, he thought that either the EDIFF was beginning to go bad OR just needed to warm up. He drove it around and concluded that it is ok to drive to work now and that it is working normally and to bring it in later to check it out a bit more.

Drove it the rest of the day and it was perfectly fine.

Anyone have any similar experience? How long do EDIFFs normally last? My car is a 2008 Scuderia, with 5900 miles.

seems like a pressure issue. pumps, pressure reservoir, starts from these. bad E-diff solenoid won't cause you not able to shift.
I am no experts, just my personal experience.

thanks yeah ferrari mechanic's initial guess. I'll keep an eye on it... if it doesn't do it anytime soon I'm just going to chalk it up to warming up issues :D

i don't think it is a warming up issue.rather, something is on its way out. Unless it is 0 F now in your area, in which case the f1 fluid could be too viscous
