I am certain somewhere in the FChat archives this was already discovered but its new to me and I am so exciting I had to share. I had the worse " Hazing" of my headlights then any Scud I have seen. Ferrari very " kindly" offered to replace my out of warranty lights with the identical manufacturer headlight for are you ready....$10,000!!! Of course I am not an idiot. So waiting for the FChat community to find a better solution one of my friends and fellow Scud owners heard of this solution. It cost less than $50. Go Buy yourself a Black and Decker heat gun. Get a flashlight or a lead light. Heat the surface of the headlight with the heat gun until SHIZAMM!! the " Hazing or Crazing" or whatever you want to call it disappears. Check out the before and after. It took maybe 45 mins. Now the cautionary note:
1)DO NOT get the heat gun any closer than 5 inches from the lens. You will warp it and discolor it. This requires patience.
    2) use a flash light or lead light to highlight the "hazing" so you can slowly work the area
    3) I believe but I am not certain that the problem still exist that being the degrading of the inside of the lens. But the noticeable part is that Mold forms on the edges of the degrading and creates this very very noticeable light refracting visually unappealing headlight.
    4) in the future always drive with your headlights on. This will heat up the lens from the inside retarding the growth of the mold that makes the degrading prominent.

Thanks to my friend Andrew Robbins for his advice and idea

Thanks for posting your DIY with Pics! Awesome work.

*I always drive with my headlights on to reduce the chance of an incident by 2.876%, but now I have two reasons...

how about turning on the lights and having some kind of blanket over... for few seconds...or minutes. keep watching... or it may gets too hot...
dangerous or may work, since it will heat inside... ? I'm just thinking...

That's amazing. How do you get the lens to heat up being 5 or more inches away?
I guess the question now is how long it will last.

John was there any price breakdown in that estimate? With that ridiculous price they might as well give a quote of 100k.

I have heard of cutting the headlight apart , polishing the lense , and resealing them, but can not find anyony to do that. Anyone here have a source? And yes, new lights are $9000+.

Search this site, there is a new thread by a guy who is doing them himself...maybe you can convince him to do yours. He did an excellent job.

I had one of mine done here: http://www.premiermotorsport.us/ shipped to them...turn around was slow...I think almost 4 weeks.
