Hey guys, sorry to barge in. I'm in the process of purchasing 430 spider f1, and have come across an opportunity to purchase Scuderia. I live in Miami, so roads are pretty good overall. I've had 996 Turbo, and although spider seems tempting, and this being my first Ferrari, what do you think of first ferrari being a Scuderia? I love the look and weightsaving advantages, and the performance. I will be using as weekend car. Can any of you give me their thoughts? Also are there any major issues mechanically I should be discussing with dealership? Thank you again.
As much as I love and respect F430GT posts, everyone is biased to what he owns and attached to his own facts. Here are mine: 1) Here is my roll video of MY13 458 italia vs. my friend's MY10 Scuderia: [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kycfwEVnajk]458 italia vs 430 scuderia Highway Run - YouTube[/ame] We start around 80-85 km/h and I lifted off around 280. Both cars are bone-stock and had a passanger with similar weights. Here is the reverse angle: [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7bSZOr8WoIE]458 italia vs 430 Scuderia Highway Run - YouTube[/ame] As you can see clearly that 458 is much faster. That night we did at least 10 runs, and the results were all similar. 2) Further more about the weight debate of 458 italia: I put my 458 on a scale w/approx. 10-15 litres of fuel and it tipped the scale @1470 kg~3240 lbs. I have race buckets, standart rims, alcantara pack., CF tunnel and CF driving zone. I don't have lift, navi, jbl, front pdc etc. So with full tank (70 liters) it will weight approx 45 kg~100 lbs more. Not as light as Scuderia for sure but not as heavy as it is claimed. It is not a porker with today's standarts either. 3) At 6300 km, I tracked my 458 6 times (3 Körfez, 2 Istanbul Park, 1 İzmir) so far. I did 2:16 sec lap @Istanbul Park, ex-Formula 1 Turkish GP race track, as my best time which is a respectable time when you consider that 997.1 Cup cars run around 2:14 and 997 RSR runs 2:07 in race trim. [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KjGImH8qAxg]458 Italia @ istanbul Park Lap Time of 2:16 - YouTube[/ame] I'm also 1,5 sec faster than my friend who owns the black Scuderia, in İzmir Race Track which is fairly short circuit (2 km) [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb5Iwlgg-S8]458 italia Laps @ izmir Pinarbasi S03-in car - YouTube[/ame] I'm faster than him around 6 sec @Istanbul Park, too. His Scuderia rides on Pirelli Corsas, and My 458 rides on Michelin PSS (and 1 time on P Zero) 4) I drove my friend's Scuderia and I just love it BUT I prefer superior gearbox and ride of my 458. I just prefer the rich leather/alcantara look and smell of my car to stripped out fabric/carbon/alcantara cabin of scuderia. I just found it too raw. My choice of the 2 cars will be Scuderia without a hesitation but I would love to have 458 scuderia version. 5) BTW, I'm at 3rd set of tires and 2nd set of front-rear brake pads @ only 6300 km. I use stock factory alignment which is -0.7 at front and -1.5 at rear. I don't want to play with the toe-in/out settings of the car since I predict and feel the car pretty well on the limit, even at high speed oversteers. 458 gives so much confidence and feed back to his driver. I'm also big fan of the quick and short steering-rack. [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0E7WZdMwv1A]Istanbul Park - Highspeed Oversteer @ Exit of Turn 8 - YouTube[/ame]
Depending on the Circuit, I either use TC Off (Istanbul Park) or ESC Off (Körfez and İzmir). I like to have throttle oversteer, so that most of the time I oversteer the car on purpose, which causes me extra time. Also, the track surface of İzmir was too rough that the car jumped on the throttle out of corners. That's way I tracked my car only once in Izmir and ended the session earlier than usual.
I've just been reading through this thread and you have got to be the most retarded person in the world. The Ferrari 458 Italia is one of the most technically advanced cars in the world right now. Totally irrelevant comment on the car. I don't think you have a single clue on how to drive your 458. The driving experience of this car i next to nothing. And how can you criticize the brilliant dual clutch gearbox, it's super fast and smooth. Oh wait, thats right, your too drunk after your "nightlife" to even drive the damn thing.
you can also get an impression of the two cars on the Mugello circuit: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm9LlPkLLME]Ferrari 430 Scuderia vs. Ferrari 458 Italia on the Mugello Circuit 2012 - YouTube[/ame]
Wow!!! Your Scud is awesome! Love it!!! And your 458 is a wow as well. Love your interiors in both!! Congrats. Sorry for all the explanation points....I just really like your cars.
Actually BMW M and Mercedes SLS are using Getrag's double clutch transmission. BorgWarner makes VW's double clutch. If you think that 458 is overpriced by 50%, just don't buy it..
Drive a E92 M3 daily My weekends are B roads canyon drives & occational track days. Just recently sold my 997 PDK turbo S. don't think I need anything more powerful. Need a replacement. Thinking of getting my 1st F car Test drove 458 & it really feels like a gt car. Super comfortable on the streets but handles well too & it's fast too. Really tempting to just buy it but Been reading about scud & it costs 2/3 of 458 now. Seems like a bargain. Sine it's not a daily driver, why not? I've been a big fan for double clutch gearbox & worried that the scud F1 style doesn't live up to my expectation Any opinions?
I had to make that same decision recently I went with the Scud. 458 was to refined for me I liked the dram of the Scud.
