Recently a Porsche 991 GT3 RS owner converted his car from PDK to manual using transmission from 991R. Costs were said to be around 50K in $. Has anyone thought of doing this to their 430 scud? I presume the costs would be a lot higher, and an F430 transmission would be needed. Thoughts?
The 430 Scud is already now a limited production classic... Why would you want to ruin it ? The only situation in which this could work, is if the 430 Scud is a crashed/salvaged car with no collector value, so go ahead and covert it... I don't think it will be much different from 360 F1 to manual conversion... It has been done already and documented I believe..
Do it. The F1 transmission is a crappy yesterdays best technology compared to the DCT. There are 41 Scuderia on cars.com right now that you can buy. Limited production model my toosh. If you don't do a manual then do a DCT conversion.
Just curious. Would an IP check reveal this One Post Wonder to be the same one that's looking for advice about putting lambo doors on his F40?
This is like meeting a beautiful girl and trying to change her into something she is not - enjoy the car for the work of art it is, as-is
Scud was not a limited run: they built them as the orders would come in and the production line allow...same for Strad and Speciale. There wasn't a number set in stone from its conception. To the OP, go for it if it floats your boat. There is a blue Strad that was converted to manual and it looks sublime (and I don't think the owner used a crashed Strad to do so)
The ability to never be stranded at a stoplight with a red light blinking and a car refusing to go into gear. 41 Scuds on cars.com. It's apparently not supply.. but demand.
I don't know if this is real or not, but the superfast 2 transmission is the best part of the scud. Defines the car more than any other single component and is a lot of fun when you're going fast. If you want a stick, buy a manual F430. Also, the scud transmission has been 100% reliable in my experience.
It never happened to me, but I do believe that happens from time to time. Just like failing synchro on 3 pedals cars.
There's an endless selection of manual and DCT cars to choose from across various marques. The only other car that shifts like the scud is the 650k 599 GTO.
disagree - it's an older car...everything will be "less" than on a Scud. the gearbox on the CS is part of what makes it so "raw" and addictive to drive, the kicks in the back are actually a pleasure when you take her around a track or on fast roads. you are right: the CS doesn't drive like in a video game...you must adapt your driving skills to it to get the best of it (same can be said or is said from many other older cars)
Interesting. I guess I would save myself from being a troll by asking "why can't we fit a SF2 onto a CS?" its doable, but a lot more involved because of electornics and software flashes. haha, sorry, flame-suit on
another troll thought, but this time its serious and I've been dreaming it for a while and somebody has confirmed that its doable: fit a hewland sequential to the 360, just like the 360 GT
