True! However, I wanted a Ferrari since I joined here in 2021 and finally got one about a month ago, so some outliers do exist!
When I made decision, they cars were commanding roughly the same price. It was an easy decision for me. Performance-wise, they are very close, but Scud will handle like a race car as it is significantly lighter, but the 458 has a more powerful engine and efficient transmission. The Scud looks far more special inside out. It oozes “light-weight” special whereas the 458 is a “nice” looking Ferrari. World wide production numbers range from 1500-2000. Add another 500 for the 16M. They made 18,000 458’s. 458 is the better sounding car, but Scud can sound 85% as good in more raw fashion. 458 feels more daily-ish, whereas the Scud feels more weekend-ish. You can daily a Scud, but it’s a bit much mainly due to SF2 transmission. I wouldn’t choose a 458 over a Scud today (given same mileage and color) unless it was $75k less and even then I would still have to mull over it .
Yes, but did you take a 2.5 year break from visiting FChat? I suspect you didn’t. Nothing wrong with not buying a Ferrari, hell I’ve been here since 2005 and have never bought one.
I don't know what the person who opened the subject finally decided, but it is worth noting that; Even though this is a Ferrari forum, not everyone here has the same tastes and expectations. 430 Scuderia is a special edition V8 Ferrari and an extremely hardcore car. They have very stiff suspensions and sound insulation has been deliberately reduced, for example, you can even feel the sound of a pebble in the cabin, which may not be to the liking of every driver, so you should choose some cars knowing some things and being prepared. For example, a friend of mine wanted to buy a 430 scu, but after testing the vehicle, he gave up buying it because in the city where I live, the roads are not always smooth, so driving a scud may be cruel under certain conditions. After all, most of us do not spend our lives on race tracks or are not collectors. Many topics have been opened and discussed before for 458, there is no need to say anything extra. In short, both cars are great Ferrari models, but before making a decision, a test drive should be made and a conclusion should be drawn based on the person's own feedback.
This is very true. My friend's dad owned a 430 Scud, and he loved it, but his wife did not, haha. He always told me it was so hardcore, even compared to his other track cars and Ferraris he owned in the past. He did track the car, FWIW. He described it as you could hear the cylinders firing and even mentioned you could hear every pebble, just as you said (word for word). I do remember going in it for a ride, and there was no radio, so I am not actually surprised that the wife would not enjoy such a car for a date night or something. It is a specialized track weapon or an enthusiast car. In my opinion, it is still one of the best-looking Ferraris ever built, even all of these years later. Getting off track here, but I just saw a black 16M getting worked on at my mechanic's shop this past weekend when I was picking up my 458 from sticky button repair, and man, oh man, what an absolute beauty. I love these cars
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand from your article that you might give a message like "Women don't like SCU" or "SCU is a man's job" ) I'm a fan of the 430 SCU, and I'm also a fan of cars with such a pure drive. However, I said it in general, after all, every driver's expectations and conditions are different, otherwise this does not change the fact that the 430 Scuderia is one of the best Ferraris ever made.
