Hello fellow Tifosi I am interested in buying my first Ferrari and am seaking advice on this high mileage Scuderia. What should I look out for? Is this a money pit? https://denver.ferraridealers.com/en-US/a/used-ferrari/430-scuderia/ZFFKW64A280162268-1644487793630 Thank you in advance. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Honestly, do not be afraid to spend money. These are not Honda’s. That is a nice car. A lot of service has probably been done. Mileage is not high, but relative to a lot of 430’s it has been driven more. My car has 32k miles. Ask for service records, CARFAX history, dealer should know the story. It is nice to buy from the Dealer in some cases. I have done with Ferrari of Beverly Hills and Boardwalk Ferrari. All excellent experiences. Car is not without risk, but if you have the money, want the experience, then that is a Fantastic Ferrari! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great feedback. Anything I should look out for that the Scud was prone to? Do you think the price is right? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I am not super knowledgeable on the scud other than the nice upgrades. I have not owned one, so I hate to speak out of line. Search on here. Price seems pretty good to me. It is tuned very differently. Firmer. More performance driven. I love the car you shared. EAG can do a manual conversion, that would be fantastic!! Little bit of a wait. You can YouTube The Scud manual and learn a lot. Do some Fchat Searches on Scuderia and you will find a lot. If I come across anything, I like will link it here. I do bored searches all the time, LOL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I looked at this a while back. Googled the vin. Car has been discussed here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/scud-pricing-guide.334361/page-17#post-143991671 from what I can glean is this car was a track car in Vegas and that’s where a significant amount of miles were put on it. Also, there were some insinuations that the car had been in an accident in the rear and that is why some of the engine carbon fiber is painted black instead of showing the exposed weave. that said, I don’t know what to make of it. It’s the lowest price scud around with a clean Carfax and honestly I think I would enjoy this car a lot however, if I were to purchase it or make an offer I would want a thorough PPI with mechanical and cosmetic evaluations and especially I would want to know about the paint meter readings and what’s going on with the carbon fiber.
2800 plus post. Plenty of info! I am more laissez faire about CARFAX, pricing and value. If CARFAX is clean and car drives well, but was tracked and had a hiccup but fixed and you can buy for $189k, what’s the harm?!? May not get all money back, or you may enjoy for even money. Who knows? You can buy nice 430’s for under $150k with low miles and maybe more upside. 30k mile 430’s for under $125k…. And you can buy manual conversions for $200k ish, maybe less and real Manual 430’s for $225 and up depending on miles. $315k plus for 5k miles. A Scud is an awesome car. So $189k’ish and breathtaking performance is hard to beat. I have no dog in this fight, but it is an interesting discussion. $200k is cheap 458 money. They were sniffing $160’s at a time, but now seem to be firmly in the $200 plus range. A good problem to have - buying your first Ferrari! I can’t seem to stop! I saw the car Monday when I was in for my brake recall- it is immaculate- I've bought 6 cars from Ferrari of Denver (4 Ferraris- 2 Porsches) - Can't say enough good things about them from a sales and especially service standpoint. If I had garage/storage space that car would no longer be for sale I'm in FoD all the time- Happy to snap some pics or ask any questions for you. If you are already working with someone great- if not PM me your contact info and I will have Derek contact you. ****No affiliation here other than being a loyal customer and having seen the car Monday**** Cheers
https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/my-60k-mile-track-rental-bat-scud-project.626131/ Best thread on a similar car. Lots of great info.
It's a crazy market when 39k is considered high mileage for a mass produced vehicle. Apart from the well-known, and well-documented common issues the platform is robust. Have a look at https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a23026167/high-miles-ferrari-f430-exotic-car/ The black-painted carbon parts are likely because the painter didn't know how to refinish yellowed carbon, so they simply covered it up.
Thank you all for your feedback and thoughts. I will more than likely increase my budget and seek a scud with a shorter and non commercial history. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
