I want to take the wheels off my 430. Two questions: 1. Where is it safe to use a floor jack under the car? 2. There is no lug remover with my car. Am I missing part of the original tools? All I have is a small black leather case with a few fuses and flat wrenches. Thanks for help!
underneath the rocker panels there are two round areas (jack points), the rear one located straight down from the pininfarina emblem, the front one located straight down the Ferrari shield. Use either two floor jacks or one floor jack and a jack stand. If using one floor jack only, lift from the front jack point until the front wheel is at least 8" from the ground, at which point you can manually lift (by hands) the rear of the car and place the jack stand in the rear jack point. When lifted from a front jack point, the F430 pivots easily between the opposite front wheel or the same side rear wheel. Stop by Sears and get the proper socket. Mine uses 17mm hex head sockets (for the Ti lug bolts). When you tighten the lug bolts back, torque the bolts at 74 ft lbs. First torque them lightly (30ft-lb) one by one, then to 74 ft-lb. Do not tighten them in clockwise or counterclockwise sequence, tighten one, then the one most far apart from the first one, then the one most far apart from the second one, and so on.
