According to this 6-month old thread, 430 Spiders owners were advised to get Michelin Pilot Super Sports or RE 11s.

    My follow-on questions:

    1) any changes in this advice in the last six months?

    2) can anyone describe the difference between these and any of the other top contenders? (I'm hoping for specifically F430 advice because my understanding is that even within a given "brand name" like "Pilot Super Sport" in fact the formulation can be quite different for different cars' sizes.)

    3) is 10k km/6k mi about what's expected out of all of these?

(Note I'm not tracking this car or driving in slush or driving aggressively in rain... priorities are first steering feel, then ride I guess.)

My '08 manual spider is approaching 10k km in Tokyo and the outer shoulders of the fronts are wearing through despite no track, not even hard driving, and a pressure check with every fill-up. Meanwhile the rears are still OK except that thanks to a bad leak in one will cause me to replace both. I happened to get the 050's mainly on the twisted notion that they seemed to be the LEAST recommended at the time; I wanted to try the car with different tires and decided to work my way up to better tires. Meanwhile all my previous cars were on Pilot Sports and as good as they drove I wanted some variety...
