Hi guys, New to this board but not new to Ferrari. My current model is a 2004 360 CS with my 430 Spider arriving in Oct-Nov 2006. Has anyone heard if a 430 Stradale will be launched? I have an official deposit with my dealer on the #1 delivered car, this speculating that Ferrari will hopefully manufacture it. I hope they do as I want it bad, My CS is the most fitting F-car that I have owned to date. Thank you for any additional information and I'm happy to be here! Polar Peter
lots of rumors so far and no one seems to know for sure. number one, historically Ferrari hasn't repeated itself. for example, the 348 had the Serie Speciale, the 355 had the Fiorano and of course the 360 had the Challenge Stradale. of course, we all want a Stradale version of the 430! very fitting considering that Porsche has the GT3, Lambo the Gallardo SE. now, throw into the mix the mixed speculation of future 430's coming into this country because of the airbag controversy. according to my dealer, he finds it highly unlikely that Ferrari will not be able to use their clout to get past the issue. when i asked him to get me an allocation for the special 430 (i too hope its a Stradale), he stated that there is a possibility of an all new car in 08! which, seems odd, as i told him that the V8's usually have a life span of 5 years! i was actually shocked that after all the discussion here on the board, is that the dealer has confirmation that Ferrari is still tinkering with the idea of an entry level "Dino"!
Polar Pete, Wasn't it just a while ago that you sold both your GT3 and 993 TT for a CGT? Did you sell the CGT? What happened and how was the CGT experience relative to the 360CS? I am considering a 360CS and hence the question. F
Probably a new car in '09 so back up about a year and you'll have the 430 CS or whatever they're calling it in '08 with intro '07.
Yes, that's me. The C-GT was simply an awesome vehicle, a master piece, a super car, not suited for anything but the track if you want to be in the actual "pleasure zone". On public roads with my lack of patience and too many sight-seers it was nothing less then frustrating to drive and a hospital or jail cell waiting to happen. Accompanying the super car status was the frustrations of it sitting in the Porsche service center more then in my possession, weeks on end trying to determine causes for little things such as the engine light being on, was not my idea of a good thing. The problem was the techs never see these cars and when they do; they are on the phone with Porsche getting coached thru the trouble shooting sequence. Walking in and seeing your car in 100 pieces was a bit painful and made me wonder what it would be like after the warranty period was over, but again I have no patience. With the Ferrari, I loved the aggressive look and performance of the CS and for less then half the money talked myself right out of the C-GT. Honestly I feel more connected to the CS then I did to the C-GT in terms of knowing what the car is doing at any given time, this may be the tremendous power difference or simply that the CS is a smaller and tighter package, I am really enjoying it. I really do not miss the C-GT at all. It was difficult and a bit stressful to enjoy knowing you had $430,000 under your ass, sounds crazy I know. I race in the Skip Barber Series and do some Grand-am events so the CS suited my needs perfectly for a road going race car and ready for track days too. The F1 gearbox is a pleasure when driving at the limit; I really do not miss the manual gearbox. With all the great cars that I have owned, I have come to realize it does not take much to talk yourself into why you should sell what you have for the next one, finding the reasons is simply a mind-set. They are all freaking wonderful but I cannot afford all of them at once. Thanks for the nice review and comparison. A buddy of mine still regrets letting your 993 TT get away from him. That was a very nice, if not perfect example of the last of the aircooled 993TT from Porsche. Glad to hear that a track enthusiast like you is happy with the 360CS. I track my Porsche 996 C2 as well and love the experience. Toying with the idea of a 360CS, just the thought of running through the esses at Watkins Glen with the CS... See you on the track. F
Love the pics! I am also really hoping that they will come out with a F430 Challenge Stradale(or whatever they might call it). Not to buy one, but just to drool over it. Good luck with it.
About the esses at the Glen, my friend with a F355 challenge says that it is amazing on that track. If I were you, I would get a 360CS (or f430CS or regular challenge) as soon as I could.
that is the F430 CHALLENGE(no stradale). It says CHALLENGE right on the front of the car under the 14
Sorry, typo. I misread it. But you're right, it's just a challenge, I'm not sure if a stradale is coming out or not.
Polar Peter - you have great taste in cars. Your praise of your Challenge Stradale just reemphasizes to me just how special a vehicle it is. Everyone that owns one just can't say enough good things about it. Your Carrera GT in yellow looked awesome too BTW.
Nevertheless, the challenge is beautful. I can't wait to see it in action in some F430 challenge races.
Peter - That's one helluva collection of cars. Tough choice each Saturday morning, eh? This guy seems to have some inside info on the 430CS.... or not. Just thought I'd throw it out there. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=494134
Thanks Motion but I never had them all at one time so Sat. mornings is not a problem. It was a problem when I had three at one time but that is now over and I'm at peace with myself ..... for the moment. I think the guy on that thread you linked knows as much about the arrival of a 430CS as I do, and that is pretty much nothing. But if it does show up, I'll have it and that feels pretty darn delightful. Thank you everyone for your nice comments and help. Talk soon again PP
