Hello all. I helped a buddy of mine to upgrade (some will argue its not really an upgrade) his 360 coupe by adding a Gruppe M intake, Hi Flow cats, Capristo Level 3 exhaust, and a Eurotek ECU.

I am looking to see if anyone has done similar upgrades to their 430 and to see if there are known benefits. I am aware of the Capristo Race Exhaust for the 430, and Eurotek already has a chip for it, but I was wondering if anyone knows of cats and intake that would improve upon stock.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

    Gus,

There has been a host of conversation about Eurotek chips for the 360, and no one has answered the call with definite dyno results. So, I'd pass on that for the price.

Capristo is very loud in my opinion.

However, there has been considerable success with Hyperflow and Larini cats on the 360 which should be very applicable to the 430.

Riverflyer did a fabulous post about installing the Larini cats, and Ray Johns did another with the Hyperflow cats. Both of these were 360's.

So, if you search for those, you'll find great answers.

There are not any reliable claims of power increases on the 360 or the F430 with software or exhaust. When a car makes the kind of HP/Liter numbers the 360 and F430 make, it's unlikely anyone in the aftermarket is going to find a way to get more power out of the car.

If you install an exhaust, do it because it weighs less. There is no reason to chip the car, unless you find some that will dyno the car for a specific type of fuel and any other mods you may have done.

The bottom line is if you do write new software it should take into consideration all other variables, like new airboxes and exhuast mods, fuel octanes etc. Than you migth find a few percent gains.

I'd start with a good alignment on the F430...

Thank you both for your response. For the record, I too agree that more seat time is better than any of the mods mentioned, but when someone wants something else, well there are many who can mislead and charge outrageous prices for less gains than the ones mentioned.

I spoke with a board sponsor a few minutes ago and learned that Gruppe M has abandoned the Italian market, so apparently a set of BMCs is the 'to do mod' as far as intakes go. We will go ahead with the Hyper Flow cats (once available) and again with the Capristo exhaust (Level 3 with the cats on the 360 was not too loud for my friend, just perfect). I have read the posts on the questionable gains from the Eurotek ECU, but I can tell you that it does make a significant difference. Unfortunately for us all, my buddy did not dyno the car before and after the mods, so no numbers to back it up, but throtle response was markedly better and there seemed to be more torque. Of course, this could all be due to the intake and exhaust modifications, but we will never know (all mods were done at once).

Thank you all once again, and if I have missed something, or there are other suggestions I should take into consideration, please feel free to share it!

For the most part, today's F-cars are designed almost perfectly and run optimally stock. Any mod becomes only a way to spend some dough and gain a little individuality but does zilch for performance. In some cases it actually decreases performance. One negative is you run the risk of screwing something up and running into warranty hassles if F wants to dig in their heels. Having said that, mod away :)
