Arizona, with this information, I would get the previous owners name and phone # and start working the phones. I'd call the service advisor at the dealer where it was serviced and talk to him too.

How about this for another option. Pick up a great used 430, spend a bit of money on 'scudding' the handling and you have a CS beater on track and off, for less money and more reliable. Possible? Problems?

Then you're going to really hurt the value :)

How? Many tuners seem to do work on the handling for 430, cost approx £600. Can always be reverted. Total cost £1200 - or am I missing something?

I'm talking out of my ass on this one. I've never tuned a car.

    However,

All those tuned up 430's on Ebay always seems to sit forever. When I was CS shopping, aftermarket exhaust or anything that took it away from Bone Stock hurt the value and desirability a lot even if it could be reverted. BTW, I don't think a couple grand $ is gonna get you much "tuning".

Same here, never done it. Agreed on not much for $2k but certainly some fine tuning and set up could be had and I just wonder how far this would get you towards a CS beater? Only hypothetical as I'm looking to change my 430 for a CS myself.

The 30 number came from someone offline. Not working the market anymore although he still knows everycar for sale. He also was confronted last summer by another Fchatter claiming he couldn't find more than 25 and he produced a list of 45 for sale. He knows where they are and I have no clue. Never will and don't need to. I know where my CS is. Underneath my Turbo S in my winter storage.

See above. 30 for sale was his unofficial tally this AM. He's retired though and never produced the list publically. Unfortunately for a you and others he got burned a couple of times so he's burned out and doesn't really want to discuss them anymore. Too much work.

If you look at every one of Stokpro's last posts on Fchat over the past couple of weeks he Warns you OFF of a certain car. Look it up and double check it's not the car you are inquiring.

    +1
I've driven it and almost bought it 16-18 or so months ago before I bought mine. The car was immaculate at the time. One guy bought the car and stored it 5 months or so putting like 250 miles on the clock and sold it back to FoS. Very solid no stripe car. The previous owner traded it on a Scud and the thing was so stinking clean. He polished the inside of the gas fill area even. Totally anal caretaker. At the time it was about 15k high on asking and I opted for another with 8k less miles and 15k less.
You won't get any owner information from FoS. It's not their style. Fly up and check it out. It's a solid car.

I have no affiliation with FoS. This is also as Kuzi stated my opinion.

    See above Arizona

The service advisor is an Fchatter as well. You still won't get previous owner information on the car. It's not policy.

I know StokPro too. Talked to him on the phone a lot in the last year.

Yes, last year, I had my own list and it had over 30 cars. Not anymore. That's been my point since the beginning of this thread!!!!!!

So if you had a list you wouldn't have ever needed Stokpro.

Interesting his list is 30 cars now and yours is 1/3rd. Like real estate there will always be about 10% for sale in good areas ;)

I never needed Stockpro. We always just talked the CS. He's great to talk to.

What's your point with all of this? Having a bad day?

I second Andrew's comments. ArizonaItaliano, you should jump on this CS. It's worth the premium if it checks out as advertised. Getting harder to find examples like this.

Not that it matters, but of the 28 for sale, a few are not listed in your typical sites but rather via FML, craigslist, dealer's site only, FSBO, etc. Also a handful are in Canada but still North American spec CS's. Actually, quite a few of the CS's in Canada were U.S. cars that were brought over the border as Canada simply see the same CS allocation numbers we did. That said, I counted Canada cars, too. As an example, here are two for sale but not widely advertised (dupont, cars.com, autotrader, eBay, etc).

Folks, I am new to Ferarri and am so close to buying that Stradale at FoS. I have a serious concern regarding the maintenance costs, mileage and anticipated depreciation. I want the car, but not a bunch of issues or extremely tough resale situation.

Should I just hold out for one with lower mileage? (I can get over the maintenace costs, but need to feel better about start of on the right foot)

Mileage shouldn't be a concern if the car was serviced to schedule. Some people have differing opinions on this but I wouldn't want a CS with less than 2000+/- miles driven per year, maybe more. The cars need to be driven.

I believe I know the car you mentioned. Rosso Scud w/o the stripe correct? If it is that car its a cream puff. Looks perfect in the pictures I saw.

you'll get a thousand and one opinions on mileage and ferraris and what someone considers "high miles". most definitely you want a car that's been driven often enough that the kinks have been worked out. i purchased a 18k miles, zero stories, stradale that to me is perfect in every single way; i looooooove looooooooove the sound of the car at wot and really truly who cares about depreciation. you live once. the car is timeless in it's design, perfect in how it stimulates your every sense and the cost of maintenance, for me, has been minimal. btw isn't kuzi selling his stradale? you should look at his. post a link of the car you're looking at.

The Ford GT was mentioned earlier in the thread about it holding its value. I just would like to point out that the GT is very limited in production in that it had no predecessor (except the actual race cars) nor is there any plan for a successor.

It was a one shot deal. The GT Heritage Limited-Edition is mostly already locked away in plastic bags and will sell for big premiums if/when they are brought to market.

Ferrari has been making exciting cars for a long time and will continue to do so. So in this sense there is a very large population of Ferrari's to choose from and more on the way.

I consider the GT a real value right now and I expect it to hold its own and grow as time goes on and good collectable examples get rarer. Many of those made are fortunately being driven, enjoyed and modded. So in the end, how may original low mileage cars will be around in 10 years?

So I would not use it as a comparison in any way to Ferrari future value calculations except for the really exotic rare Ferrari's such as F40, Enzo.....etc and even then its apples and oranges.

To the OP, as stated by many, CS and 430 are different cars and driving experiences. Only you will know what is right for you. Pick the model that fits you first, then find the car you like.......Steve
