Your best starting point is to click on search enter 430 360 and select titles in the 430/360 section and then spend hours reading all the threads that result - if you've then got any more specific questions ask away

The biggest advantage of the 430 is the lower maintenance costs because the F430 does not have rubber timing belts.

The other is the additional power and the electronic nanny settings that lets the average guy go faster than he can imagine without crashing. The F1 gearbox also works much faster.

The biggest disadvantage of the F430 to the 360 is that the F430 costs more. Aside from that, there really are no "cons". Both are really fine cars.

Some people think one looks better than the other. That's a matter of taste.

Here's a few of my personal criteria for going to a F430 spider:

    - F430 has less maintenance expense as well as "issues" such as cam variators, etc.
    - F430 has a interior that I prefer.... from the start button right to the overall layout.
    - F430 has more power and improved handling due to e-diff, etc.
    - F360 costs less.... further down in the depreciation curve
    - F360 (IMHO) looks better than the F430

So in the end.. I went with a 3 pedal F430 spider!

Either way don't think you can lose!

thanks for the input so far! i know that there were a few recalls on the earlier model 360s did the earlier model 430s have any recalls and if so in which year were they mostly corrected from the factory?

id get a stradale over a 430 but a 430 over a 360 and im one of those who thinks the 360 is a bit nicer to look at than the 430.

its simply a question of budget.

Call the closest Ferrari dealership and arrange to drive both. This may not be possible on the same day but is a good idea when dropping 90-190k on a toy!

i have had both and agree with above. i now have a 3 pedal 430 spider
many dont like the front of the 430 but i appreciate its heritage in the 156 F1 sharknose that P Hill won the 1961 championship

go to a dealer and drive them both. only then will you will know the pros and cons of each vehicle. the opinion of others is irrelevant.

I test drove back to back in 2007 and made my decision. Then waited until 2009 when I could afford an 06 430 3 pedal coupe, couldn't be happier...

My first test drive was a 430 manual transmission. Next was F1 430. Finally 360 manual transm.

You should do the same. I went with 430 manual transm.

The 360 is fast enough for me. And I believe it looks better.

The 430 is faster and has more technology. You have to decide if its worth it for you.

May the horse be with you. ;)

Had a 03 360 F1 for 2.5 years and loved it. Felt like a change and moved to a 07 430 F1. Its like night and day. You can really feel the 5 years worth of technology gains. Its so much more "solid" and while it does not "scream", man its loud!

The wife drove it (under STRICT supervision - in auto mode) and she wants to drive it again - Now that says something.

In terms of looks the 430 has really grown on me i.e. more aggressive - which I kinda like. Had absolutely no issues with the 360 but really did look after it well.

I am in the same situation, I am looking for my first F car and unsure what one to get. But my plan was to arrange several test drives of the 3 pedal 430 and the F1 gear box. I will probably also see about driving a 599 GTB. I am pretty sure thats a completely different animal but i would like to see the difference.

Also do any of you gentlemen have any thoughts about the Scuderia vs. the standard 430?

I know its probably a personal choice but i was wondering what are the draw backs and advantages of each and what do you lose in a road driving sense?

I think the main issue for all owners would be cost of CS over 360 and cost of Scud over 430. Suspect we'd all love the racier spec over the standard but there's a significant price differential that keeps the majority of us in the standard spec cars.

Undoubtedly the racier spec cars are a little more harsh on road or in daily use but I think most would or could live with that if we had the cash to make the choice.

We love our 360F1 (also my wife loves driving the car).
I don't need all the super-technology and electronics in my Ferrari. It still has to be a sportscar and a bit rougher.....
I think it is important to decide that you will use the car daily or for the fun.

.... of course a cs is great (and rough) but .....

If you compare coupe to coupe, I think a 430 is a better choice (more modern, cost less to maintain)

However, for the same amount of money, you can have a 360 spider or a 430 coupe

For me the choice was a spider, because once you have a convertible, it's really difficult to go back to a coupe

360 spider is much less than a 430 coupe.

They are all great, I went F430 manual after owning a 360f1 and the Stradale is fun too. You should take into account the carbon ceramic brake system of the Stradale which are very large bills to replace, also late F430 has them standard.
