Given the significant improvements of the 430 over the 360, I wonder how it compares in the real world to the 575.

    Anyone driven or own both?

    Many thanks,

Had an opportunity to take the 430 and 550 for a short drive. First time out for an extended period in the 430 and hadn't driven the 550 for a few weeks after putting 2,000 miles driving up the coast and back.

Very different cars; 430 - nimble, very quick, excellent handling and power, very responsive steering, race-horse like (as compared to the 550), angry-like exhaust, fabulous brakes (ceramics), wants to be driven fast, great stability at 120mph, wants to rev (though I am still in the break-in period); 550 - old school (as compared to the 430) particularly with the gated shifter, great roar/rumble (Tubi exhaust), timeless styling, heavier steering, plenty of torque, cruiser, gentleman like, feels totally at home at 85 mph. It is amazing what 6 years of technology and improvements can do to an automobile. Very different machines and very different characteristics.

For whatever it is worth, I drove the CS the day before - like the 430, but with an edge, raw, really angry and wants to be driven hard and fast! Rougher shifts, louder blips on downshifts than the 430. Haven't explored the upper rev limits of the 430, but it would seem hard to beat the CS's freely reving engine from 5-8k. Can't wait to experience!

I've driven both and quite hard as both were (effectively) hire cars!

On every objective standard, the 430 is measurably superior.
Even as a GT it is pretty good, if slightly noisier than the too quiet (standard) 575.

However for subjective driver enjoyment, then obviously it is far more down to personal preference.
You could easily argue that you can feel the limits more easily in a 575 and it is certainly easier to powerslide.

In fact that is the Maranello's USP in my opinion; despite its sensible, mature looks it is one of the best hooligan's cars that you can buy (or rent)!

I didn't intend this as a direct, "which is best" comparison, but more an appreciation of each cars strengths, the way one would compare Brioni and Kiton suits.
