    430. RWD > AWD any day of the week
do lp560s even come with 3 pedals anymore? paddle shifting is cool, but nothing replaces the joy of 3 pedals

I'd say it depends on the year of the 430. Same year it's personal preference.

Personally, I'd take the LP560. I really like how it looks compared to the older Gallardo. But I still love the 430.

In terms of price you'd have to compare the lp560 to the Scud, no?

I used to own a 560. I sold it to buy my Scuderia. Only reason i sold it is because of the depreciation hit i took with the 560 when the economic crisis hit.

Most of the 430 owners i know are also suffering from the same depreciation problem. Thats why i bought the Scud. I managed to get a good deal on one brand new, and found a buyer for my 560 at the same time.

The Scud has been holding onto its value pretty well till now. I have the only yellow one in the country, and ive been getting offers to sell the car for more than i paid.

So if it were my choice...id go for a 560 any day over a regular 430. Its way faster, a lot better looking, and the interior is much better built.

    Good Luck

Is it just me or is the original Gallardo a more exotic design than the lp 560..

there was a Gallardo next to an LP 560 in my garage the other day... the Gallardo was more impressive looking..

besides the engineering.. I would rather get a gallardo superlegerra over the 560 for the looks

I've been debating this myself, or a 360CS. Most reviews call the 560 the better car, but you'd have to drive it to know for yourself.
After my disapointing ownership of the GTR, I'd want at leaset 20 minutes of seat time to decide.
Love the looks of the 560 and 360 CS best. The 560 is now ~$180k used!

I really need to go for a drive with someone who has a CS in SoCal.

What was so disappointing with the GT-R?

BTW, I'd pick the CS too ;)

The 560 is much faster than the standard F430. It also feels like a considerably better built car. As it should, you're comparing 2004 technology to 2009 technology. So if you're going for build quality, speed, and handling, then the 560 is by far the way to go. The regular F430 feels antiquated in comparison. This is triple true if you're comparing F1 to E-Gear.

But ultimately it's down to driving preference. There are certainly plenty of people here who'd rather have an older/slower car because they like the feel. They really feel very differently. There's no way to truly know what you prefer before trying both.

It should be said that there's a substantial price difference, though. A used 560 is about ~185. A used 430 can be had down to ~125.

I've driven the Gallardo coupe, spider and SL (though, not the 560).

The Lamborghini feels powerful and capable. Fit/finish is nice, similar to a Porsche, IMO. It feels a bit too, dare I say, German-ized, though.

The 430, however, feels more alive, lighter and racier. Also, I think the 430 sounds better inside the car (though the Gallardo does sound great outside). Build quality is good, but it has more of a hand-made look. It's also plenty fast for the road.

Can't go wrong with either, really.

You can easily turn an LP560 into RWD, and any Gallardo is better when you do that.

Hey, not to hijack, but did you have to reprogram the ecu when you went RWD? or mess with suspension setup? i ask because the Balboni had work done to the suspension and electronics, gearbox, etc. how did the steering feel, and balance of the car change?

to the OP, personally i like the looks of the lambo more..but as others have said...just drive them both and see which you connect with the most, that's what matters...how YOU feel while driving.

Whatever was the most common reason or concern you used to narrow the choices down to just these two cars, use it again to make your final choice. It may be a close call, but one will prevail. There is always that elusive "one thing" that the car you want most has more of than the others. It's just a matter of discernment.

Before I bought my 430 I tried both a Gallardo and a 560. The 560 is definitely superior to the Gallardo, however I think the 430 is a better all around car than the 560. Visibility is poor and the 560 cabin feels smaller and cramped compared to the 430. If you are looking for pure speed and WOW, then get the 560. If you want the best all around car get the 430.

Dangerous place to post this but having had all 3, the Gallardo and the LP560 are still in the garage. The Ferrari is stylish, nimble and motorcycle like. The Lambos are just aggressive beasts. Also, the LP560 is in a league of it's own; more power, more style. I took it over a LP640 and a 599 and have never regreted it. If it was Gallardo vs. 430, I'd take the Ferrari but 430 vs. LP560, no contest - Lambo.

I'd take the 560 over a regular 430.. and a Scuderia over the 560. the 560 is on a whole different level from the past Gallardos and with the improvements in handling, shifting and power.. the 560 actually feels and sounds closer to a ferrari, even with AWD, it is very nimble and precise. With the prices coming down so low on them, I would snap one up. Plus, once the 458's start rolling out, the 430 prices are gonna tank pretty hard and I would think you wouldn't bleed as much with the 560 as you would with a 430 right now.

Haha; "there is no substitute"... except in his garage there are two.

    Nice cars though.

if you can wait, get the 458!

w/ the exception of the better driving position and the rear wheel drive of the 430, I feel like the Lambo is a superior machine. Then again, there is a price difference.

These two cars perform at a level where, if driven on the road, it's difficult to really appreciate the better performing of the two. Years ago, the cars weren't that powerful, so the new models' increased torque/hp and better handling made a useful difference.

These days? I don't know...I have no problem with my 430's acceleration and handling. Is a 560 better (i.e. better performing)? Honestly, I really don't care. It's become sort of irrelevant to me. The 430's already too fast for the road, the 560's even more so. If you live in a place where you can regularly enjoy 9/10 of the car's performance, or can track it, that's one thing. If not, is 'even more speed' worth spending even more money?

The point is, if you like the Ferrari - the car and the company - don't worry about the 560's better numbers, because I don't think it's gonna make a whole lot of difference when you're driving down the road. The 560 is the newer car, so it does have a half-a-generation advantage in refinement and build quality over the 430, but the 430's not lacking in either category.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

430 all the way. I NEVER considered purchasing a Lamborghini. I don't care if it's faster or newer technology, or faster on the track or blah, blah, blah.

I simply don't like the styling of their cars.

Thought I'd revisit this thread now almost a year later and see who has more feedback on LP560-4 vs Scud ownership. I'm torn between the two. Some days I even toss in the Audi R8 V10 given the $30-40k aprx delta in price.
