When it’s cold out and hasn’t warmed up the water above the peg it will try to shift into 4th but then drop into neutral. It’s less prone to this when not in auto. What are. Your thoughts?

Could be gear position sensor/potentiometers, insufficient f1 pressure, worn clutch, throwout bearing, maybe even air in f1 system... but, take it to your trusted Ferrari tech with the proper tools to diagnose...

+1 Get a readout and it will pinpoint the issue. Could be as easy as air in the system that needs to be bled.

I experienced the same, my car is 2007 with 18,000 miles. Clutch reading 22.79, mine was dirty fluid in needed of service and to be bled.

It is my understanding that if the gear indicator is flashing, that means its has pressure issues.

I would assume it’s fluid related due to the temperature occurrence.

That’s what I was hoping, it works fine once warm.

Did you check the fluid level?

Eric, get a fluid service done, that is all was needed on mine and problem solved.
