This seal kit can be used on the ZF power steering pump on the 550. I used it and it's only $20. The 550 PS pump is very easy to rebuild. Power Steering Pump Seal Kit
Pirrelli are making another batch of tyres for 456 series, with delivery mid February to Australia. They only make batches every two years.. The price is also very reasonable, but before I quote a figure lets just see when they arrive.
That got me curious to see if it's the same as the 456, it's not but the 456 pump may be an AUDI 100 200 unit 154512(154512) AUDI,FERRARI Power Steering Pump if the chart is correct it's also a Mondial unit.

The pressure switch (now verified) for the TEVES hydraulic booster for early 456 is actually AC DELCO #25530882 (the 25533700 has the wrong connector) About $100 on Amazon. I believe this also works for several TR, 355, 348, 328 series cars but cannot verify.

Graeme Is the fuel pump cover the exact part or need some modification to fit? Mine has been on a half a year back order and I am still waiting. G.T. Car parts US has it but they quote it is made of aluminium. I remember it is made of plastic. Can you enlighten me please. Thanks
The pump mount section appears to be exactly the same as I have mine out, the rest of the pump doesnt matter. I was actually looking for the seals as they are silly money. I Just had delivered a pair of GT parts ally plates, and they are a work of art, I got mine from them in 6 days to Australia ! The other thing you will need is 8mm or 5/16 Gates submersible fuel hose, as you cannot reuse the old ones. The other tech bit is the gaskets for the housings are Hydrogenated Buna-n seals (green) I can get them made is Australia cheaper than buying them from the US due freight costs. The gaskets are 115mm id 123mm od = 4mm across and 2.5 mm thick.
Graeme Thanks. I have ordered the gaskets for the fuel cover (original) from another supplier in UK and I am waiting it to be sent together with the covers. Will the original gasket fit the new G.T cover? And the sub hoses you can get them from the repair shop locally? Regards
The GT covers are as near as can be identical to the plastic originals, and yes the original seals fit. You will also need new barb fittings for the inside connections, GT made the size universal as some pumps use different size hose. The Fuel hose I have discovered is a Gates Fuel submersible hose apparently developed for use in Volvos of all things, the only thing to confirm is the pressure rating but I suspect it will be able to handle it X2 Submersible Fuel Line Hose | Gates Corporation Where to Buy Gates Belt & Hose Products | Gates Corporation
I think here is a good place to add some more detail about parts. I would like to apologise to the person who suggested the Orings were a std size I mistakenly thought they must be metric their not, humble pie time. They are Imperial size, AS568 BS1806:1989 They are 2.110 or 3/8 Id (9.19 mm) 9/16 Od (14.28mm) 3/32 (2.62 mm) cross section Viton material. Hi does anyone know if there is an interchangeable part for seat module on a 456. Part number is 65912500 .
The Servotronic torque converter on the steering rack on the 550 is made by ZF and is also used on many 1990s-era BMWs. BMW part number is 32411134770. I found it online at FCPEuro for $165. If your 550's steering suddenly goes heavy, check this item for failure. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I once test drove a 575M HGTC and found the steering to be incredibly meaty/heavy. It's found it intruiging at first but it could have quickly become wearing. It was however consistent over my 20+ minute drive but I suspected that something must have been to blame and perhaps it was this unit. How does it work?
It's an electronic valve that variably opens and closes based on the voltage it receives from the servotronic ECU so that the steering boost varies with vehicle speed. The higher the voltage, the more it opens, increasing fluid flow and steering boost. It makes the steering very light when parking and less boosted at higher speeds.
Does anyone know the SKF part number (or another suitable alternative) for the 171057 belt tensioner bearings?
Tom, MM- The 575M HGTC has the standard 575M hydraulic steering ECU fitted to all regular 575Ms, and not the FHP ECU. So I have no clue what MM was feeling, unless it was the same thing you had, Tom. Confirmed on at least two HGTC 575Ms that had standard steering ECUs and the HGTC parts list, which omits the FHP steering ECU. Whatever it was you were feeling, MM, it had nothing to do with a different steering ECU. My FHP 575M has very comfortable steering, parking or at speed. Sounds like something was off on that particular HGTC. Possibly the system needed fresh fluid and bleeding, which should be done at least every two years on our V12s, or the valve/torque converter Tom replaced was going.
