Does anyone have a cross reference for a 456 AC Drier? The Ferrari part is NLA. I searched the parts thread as best I could. I know I can go ask a parts store to find a similar one but those folks don't like a challenge anymore. "What year?" They kill me.

Looks like Algar Ferrari may have them in stock. You can buy parts on their website or call them. Price is $300.

I just bought a 456 last year and I’ve discovered that some parts sellers list things as NLA but if you shop around you can still find them.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I’ve learned to Google part numbers when I’m told something is NLA. Just googled it several come up including ferrparts which has one on eBay for $189 with free shipping. Good luck.

    Generic dryers work fine.

Are the threads standard for US and foreign? Can I just get one of those "Universal" ones?

Ken, Taz is correct that generic driers work fine, but there are the issues of fittings, sight glasses and orientation of the fittings to keep adapters to a minimum. I ordered mine online, and no, I can't remember from whom, but I had the old drier in front of me so I could be sure everything was right when I ordered the new one. If I were you, I'd bring your drier to an automotive A/C specialty shop and ask them to get you one just like it. You know we have several of these places in Houston and I think one of them is near you in Cypress.

You can rejuvenate old driers. I have always had success doing that.

    Thanks,

I ended up buying one for a Volvo 900 for $20. I don't need the pressure switch so the SPUK unit is a bit pricey. I will let you know how it works out.

Ken, if it works out and the unit is the same as OEM, please add it to the Cross Reference Parts thread?

Sorry for the dumb question, but what exactly does this thing do? Is there a drain on it? Will it improve the cooling of the air to make cooler air?

Erik- Does at least two things, removes water from the system and acts as a filter, hence receiver, dryer, filter.

This is for a 550/575 but not a 456. It does look like it would fit. Did you put it on a 456? Not sure what you drive. Do you have any pics with the covers off? The 456 sensor is 1/8 npt 27 fitting.

The pressure switch is the same on them so I guess it's the same fitting. I guess I answered my own question...

If it is a device to collect water and filter the AC gas, and if it Works, which I suppose it will do.... Then it would fill up with water after some time, and if a car is left outside for a few houres in freezing temperatures, then the water would freeze to a real cube of ice and prevent the gas to run through it?

<Polar Bear has this one. Say it fits 456>

It does. I have one of those from Polar Bear in my 456. Send them a picture of the drier in your car first, as there are a few variations of the same item. They know all about it.
