I tried to use a Motive brake flushing tool on my 456GT with no luck. Pressurizing the tank does not cause any movement in brake fluid when I crack open a bleeder valve. What gives? I used this same method on a 348 and it worked great, saving me loads of time. Is there something in the 456 ABS system that is preventing the pressurizing tool from working?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is the case with the 456, but in an Alfa 164 I used to have, the rear break lines had to be under load in order to bleed the brakes. So that meant trying to bleed the brakes without jacking up the car.

Maybe this is the case with the 456?

I use the same Motive brake flushing w/out any problems on the 456... both rear and fronts. Did you pull the nipple on the caliper to see if it is dirty, try pressing the brake pedal while pressurized with the Motive and see if anything comes out - if not your system is blocked somewhere.

i dunno if bleeding breaks on a ferrari is differnt than a regular car, but yea you should have 2 people doing this
one bleeding the breaks, and the other pushing pressure on the pedal. saying PUMP three times, in a 1 second interval to three,
then hold it, while yelling Bleed. While there foot is on the pedal, the fluid should come out. was your pedal spongy? what was the reason for the bleed? Remember to use atleast Dot 4 :)

I hope im on the topic closly, sorry, if im way off.

Thanks for the help. The basic reason for doing this was to flush the brake fluid. I did use DOT4 fluid - the blue stuff so I can see when the old, gold fluid is through. The bleeder valves were open. I finally went to the old fashioned method of pumping the brake pedal and I got quicker results with it.

The Motive pressure bleeder worked well for the clutch, or at least getting the fluid out through the clutch bleeder nipple. I started pumping the clutch pedal to flush the brake fluid, then attached the pressure bleeder. I was able to get all of the old fluid out this way. However, now I have no clutch function! The pedal just goes to the floor. I am not sure what I did wrong. Should I pressurize the brake master cylinder with the pressure bleeder while depressing the clutch pedal?

The brake pedal feels fine. The clutch pedal goes to the floor and does not disengage the clutch. Something is amiss with the clutch. The clutch pedal was fine until I flushed all the fluid.
