Has anyone done it yet? A hot rod builder friend of mine has been after my 456 motor and trans for about two years since seeing the Moll? Roadster in Monterey. He's offering to swap my motor for a blown mustang V8 and pay me $20k when he finishes his hot rod (he's built 6 custom rods in the past 6 years). I was thinking about selling the 456 but I can only get about $40k wholesale for it ( I don't really want to deal with selling the car myself ). I figure I can have my driver 456 for $20k within a couple of years. As far as keeping the Ferrari original, I have other cars that I keep original and the 456 doesn't need to be one of them (sorry to disappoint, but destroying the originality high volume Ferraris is NOT blasphemy).

Not to digress, but has anyone seen a swap on a 456?

The 456 has a rear transaxle, so a standard American v8 engine/tranny combo just isn't going to swap in there cleanly. If you want a V8 powered Ferrari 2+2, you'd be better off fitting something in a 412 Automatic.

I'm certain someone here will write you a $40K check tomorrow for your 456, if you're serious about selling it
