    I recall that the 456 end can would be a bit longer than the counterparts. OK, so it would need to be lenghtened if a used system was to be adapted. Could someone say if it needs to be before or after the silencer itself?

    How about the other exhaust parts?
    I suppose a full system, including resonator and connection pipes would be much more work to adapt... or??

    I believe the only difference is in the tail pipes.
    The mufflers are all the same and so are the brackets where the pipes and the mufflers are suspended.
    However, due to the different shape of the cars' back, the tail pipes or tips of the 550 are shorter than those of the 456.
    Also the 456 has the two inner tips quite a bit longer than the outer ones, while the difference is not so great for the 550.

    Hans, what a brilliant way of checking the thing out. Your pics pretty much say it all. There would be little mods needed all over... almost like making a new system.

    what were you trying to accomplish? Were you wanting to adapt 550/575 cans to a 456? and if so for what end?

    Well... I am not quite sure myself, basically just thinking about different possibilities.

    I would like a sports exhaust... not willing to buy brand new cans/system and all I was able to find second hand here in Europe was 550 cans/systems. STD being much cheaper as I would need to mod it in any case I was interested in that too... as also I had the thought of maybe making it look std, and.. and... :)
    so really just mapping the vitality of different options.

    I think I will continue this on other threads, for example the one Hans started earlier, thanks a for your replies.
