I have some questions regarding removing the engine of a 456 gt.

Q1; is it possible to remove the engine without pulling the gearbox backwards?
Q2; is it possible to remove the headers without removing the engine?
Q3; how much slack/play should be allowed for the chain that drives the oil pump?
Q4; where should I attach my belts when lifting the engine or should I just just thread them around the sump pan front and back of the engine?

I am pretty sure you can remove the headers from the engine without removing it. You can access the bolts at the head once the intake system and coils are out of the way and you have removed the inner fender panels from the rear of the front wheel wells. Then it is just a matter of the bolts at the cats...
