Has anyone successfully done a Targa conversion on a 456 GT ?
Not come across a Targa, but the Sultan of Brunei had an estate (stationwagon) version. I'm sure Ferrari built a spider prototype but I may be thinking of the BMW 8 series! I'm sure it could be done, subject to the usual chassis strenthening caveats... the problem is that the roof is long compared to a 355 etc so the roof panel/gap would be huge Why not get a 550 Barchetta! Robert.
Richard Straman did two 456 convertible conversions back in '96. I believe the conversion cost was in the 6 figures.
Does anyone have a current address and/or phone number for R. Straman Company. Is he still in the business of doing convertible conversions? Thanks. Scott
I am pretty sure that there IS a 456 Targa driving around someplace. If memory serves me it was a one-off created for Shaq. If I find any info I will post it.
Quick search gave me this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57459&highlight=456+targa
I have seen a couple of pictures of it and it was up for sale fairly recently. I think it is white and has custom wheels.
