Currently in the process of purchasing a 1995 456 GT in Southern California, does anyone a recommendation with regards to a local Ferrari tech to do the PPI,Compression, etc?? Ferrari of Orange County advised me that they longer offer this service...

Also the seller mentioned the car had very minor leather shrinkage on the passenger side of the dashboard is this repairable or does the entire dash need to be replaced?

Any other information with regards to things to look for in a 465 GT would be helpful. Already know about the window problem and all the recalls have been serviced.

    Regards,

Try Global Motorsports in Santa Ana. Phone is 714 432 1582. They have done some work on my 456 and the results are very good.

Many of the authorized dealers around the country have stopped performing PPI's due to potential liabilities. There are several idependant shops in So. CA that can perform a proper PPI. In Los Angeles I would recommend, Casta @ FX Performance, 310-575-5663, or Carl@ Blackhorse Motors, 310-815-1957. For leather repair, Fernando @ Prestige, (N. Hollywood) 818-753-9606

My first post. I'm new. Bought a 95 456 GT about 3 months ago. It came from the Bay Area. I got PPI's on a couple of these special cars by a very knowledgheable, and personable, fellow named Kevin McCue. His business is competizeone. He told me this was the one to buy.
Anyway it took a while to acclimate. After owning five Porsches, several Bimmers, a Benz, and a number of vintage muscle cars, at age 50, I felt the time was right. As a single dad, with two youngsters, I wanted four seats and a "reasonable" price tag. I was looking at C4's after getting the bug big time at Hershey in 01, when the son of the owner of our local Prancing Horse dealer, commented, "the 456's are really getting cheap." Hmmm. What's a 456?
Thanks to the Ferrari Market Letter and some other helpful souls, my Cannon de Fucile over natural leather GT arrived via Horseless Carriage. I had been fortunate enough to find a car with all the updates, new window regulators, fuel lines, etc.; 23000 mi, excellent condition. I am the third owner. One seat was a bit reluctant in automaticly going forward; the "check engine 7-12" light flickers at me occasionally, and it 'smoked' the alternator belt about a week after it became mine. Still, it was engaging. The Tubi made my 69 Pontiac GTO sound sedate. The styling is timeless, with a hint of retro to the early 70's GTB, in my opinion.
I have learned a lot, fixed some stuff and I am hooked.
I am looking forward to hanging out with you guys on line. Mike

Well, I took this thread so far off topic I forgot my original intent!
RE PPI: if you're close to SD, the best choice is Gary Bobileff. 858.622.1600
