Yeah seems like a super low price for such a nice 456. I’m sure other 456 auctions will definitely bring more money in the future.

Enclosed is my 456M sales tracker. I think it shows prices fairly stable over the last several years. With the exception of three-pedal and low-mileage time capsules, I have a hard time seeing GTA's appreciating much. Probably the biggest limiting factor will be parts availability. Things like transmission bits and the myriad ECUs are already getting scarce.

I was pulling for you to have your winning bid on a 575 be your traditional $69,420.

When you get the car I’ll love to hear more.

You stole this. Please contact me if you’d ever like to sell it. Been looking for this color combo at a reasonable price forever, not sure why I didn’t think to look on a Porsche auction site. Go figure.

No affiliation with that red 456 and the posting is pretty light on details and didn’t call out the wheel type unfortunately.

That’s a bargain for an M in such a killer color combo with the mileage. That was a $100k car before the pandemic, no sweat.

Ha - wondered if anyone remembered me. I'm a big time "doing summer stuff in summer" kind of guy (landscaping/gardening, golfing, building stuff in the yard, etc) so that's taken up the majority of my time. As the seasons start to change I'm getting ready to bring the car in - probably in 2-3 weeks - and start getting a list together and outlining a roadmap for where it's going and when. Assembling parts lists. Goals this off season: fix windows, suspension light, seat controls. Learn more about working on Italian cars. Like US trim panel clips are very different than Japanese are very different than German. No idea what's used in Italy. I think winter 2025 will be an interior gut so just dip my toes in before then and get more confidence in the car. Mechanically, identify / triage leaks and see if I can get the CEL 1-6 off. Decide if I'm throwing a few thousand in heavy detailing/correcting or saving up for a respray.

The car itself is the stupidest and most irrational thing I've ever owned and I love it for that. I love making Italian car jokes, like "I always check the garage floor after I pull it out, because if nothing's there it's probably empty". Think I put maybe 2000 miles on it since April and am doing another 200-300 tomorrow. No regrets, other than I wish I had more time to spend with it - either behind the wheel or under the hood. Even a bit neglected and rough, it's an incredible machine.

    You are way behind schedule.
At least for a reliable driver, don’t let it rot out further.

How so? The only thing I would consider to be urgent is the check engine light, which appears to have been taped over in the past based on the residue on the cluster. The rest is more like "fix things faster than they can break." The suspension light appears to be because the adjusters are disconnected, but I haven't futzed around with that yet and it rides just fine. It does need lift time with a specialist but Bobileff did a belt service on the car and gave it a thorough once-over when I purchased. If I bought it from an auction, it would have gone straight to a shop. Remember, I waited 4 years for this car, and we can only drive it 5-6 months a year in the northeast. Summer is not really shop time and Gary talked me off the cliff about a few concerns I had on the car.

What did he talk you out of? Remind us what year was it? If it’s a 95, you Have 2.7 motronic which is actually easy to manually pull codes from the ECU, You can blink the light and search based on blinks. It should have 2 check engine lights for each bank of cylinders for troubleshooting components can be simple too. Search the 348/355 boards for more widespread 2.7 specific things.

I’ve had my eye on that car. They are / were asking $70k for it.

The issue is that BaT is bringing prices around $10k lower than their ask, and despite the fact that the car is a great color combo, and the wheels are beautiful… they just don’t seem to photograph well together.

I don’t know, there’s just too much rim there and it makes the proportions look off…
