I want to add a keyless remote trunk release to my 456. There is an Alpine alarm with RKE installed that includes auilliary outptus for things like lights and trunks. So, where is the wire (and what color) for the trunk release? Does anyone know if the switch acts directly on the release solenoid or is there a relay in between? Is it low side actuation (switch grounds line to turn solenoid on) or high side drive (switch connects battery to solenoid to engage)? Is there a wiring diagram of the trunk release system?

    Thanks!

Hello, I am looking to do the same modification to my 456: which model of alarm are you looking at and where are you going to buy it from?
Does it have also remote door locks?
I am pretty sure the switch is operating the trunk release directly, by the way.

My car has an Alpine SEC-8048, which appears to be out of production. I just got my car a little over a month ago and the Alpine unit was already installed.
I tracked down a little info. about it on the web. It is a pretty nice unit which incorporates an alarm plus RKE features. The door locks are hooked up, but the box also has two or three "accessory" outputs that can be used to flash lights or open a trunk. I need to know the current draw on the trunk actuator solenoid so as to not overload the switches within the Alpine box.

I bit the bullet, took the trunk release switch out, and took some measurements. The switch switches Vbatt to the trunk release solenoid. The trunk release solenoid measures around 4 Ohms. Thus, a 3A (nominal) switch is needed to unlatch the trunk.
