Hi all, Was looking all over the forum for this info, so sincerely hope it’s not duplicative. I recently pulled the trigger for a ‘97 456GT and while I’m waiting for delivery I’ve been going through the service record to note down what needs to be done at the first service. The car has now 51.167km on the Clock and needs the usual things (new timing belt (last one 2019), window alignment driver, window opening passenger). I also found an invoice for valve clearance adjustment from 2014, which was at 39.298km. My question now: is the valve clearance a necessity based on time, distance driven or both? 12.000 km doesn’t sound like a lot, 15 years do sound like a fair bit. Any advice? My gut feeling is: it’s going in for a service, just slap that on top.
Valve adjustment intervals have no time factor. I would pay very close attention to the condition of the lower drive bearings and the coolant hoses under the intake manifold. Also to the intake manifold gaskets and motor mounts..
