    Hey Rick,

Like you I am a huge fan of F1 Imports. When my son had a 456 [many yrs ago] F1 fixed the window regulators.

And F1 works on all of my cars including the rebuild of my 330 GTC engine, suspension, electrics and much more. Eric is a true master tech that can seem to solve any issue and fabricate pieces at will. He fitted the AC/Delco alternator bracket, Spal cooling fans, Sanden a/c compressor, MB blower motor and so on to make my GTC systems operate better than the original.

I would recommend them to anyone seeking expertise and service.

    Steve

I have done a few of those, and I hate it. I cringe when I get that phone call from a customer..

" hey Tom my window is stuck halfway up and there is a crunching noise when I hit the window button". I always feel like going on vacation at that exact moment.

Howie- I am with you on that one, and I did not get paid for the ones I fixed. Even if I got paid, it would not be worth it again.

    Steve,

After all you were the one that turned me onto F1 thru FerrariChat when I first purchased my 575. So a big THANK YOU for that! Last time at F1 I saw your 330 there. She looks fabulous.

By the way I never finished a posting I had done regarding the switch from Imperial to Metric in my gauges when F1 replaced my clutch. This occurred after they re-engaged the battery switch and took the vehicle out for a test drive.

F1 was able to figure out how to move back and forth between Imperial and Metric readings. Now if you happen to import a vehicle with Metric reading gauges they can change everything over to Imperial for you. I wonder how many people could have figured that out??

Now if I can just decide whether or not to replace my springs.

Rick- They and FAI are the only ones I am aware of that know how to do that swap in the bowels of the instrument panel chip.

I just bought a 575M and I have a substantial gap on the passenger side.

I thought the problem was way corrected by Ferrari by the time the 575M debuted?

    Please help!

On my MGT, after a few years, I have also decided to strip apart mine.
I think I have the same issue. Scisors central pin looks OK without so much clearance.
When I remove the mecanism, I can really translate horizontally the window. So I guess the lateral guides you mentionned are also faulty....

I have also created a pdf on my MGT.

    See French forum https://www.theferrarista.com/forum-ferrari/topic/9305-le-sujet-qui-fâche-les-vitres-de-la-456/?do=findComment&comment=500138
and the pdf is there: http://www.nicolas66.fr/Public/Voitures/456_notre/Demontage%20mecanisme%20de%20vitre%20porte%20gauche%20456%20MGT%20-%2031%20Mars%202016%20-%20V1.pdf

I have not finished yet as parts are on order.

Can anyone confirm the window cannot move fwd/bckwd when the pantograph is removed?

Remember you can also shim the window guides. Shimming them can also cause the glass to press against the door top seal at the bottom of the glass which can bring the top of the window in towards the car.

    Thanks.
How do you shim them? Because the two cylindrical tabs each side do not help....

You can also adjust the rail position to be more in or out.

There are also two little sliding blocks on each side that wear; so when repairing the windows it is smart to exchange them, only one is shown in that parts picture (item #21) but there are two of them going through rails #20 and #54. They're identical to BMW E36 3-series window parts, every BMW parts desk will have them in stock as failure is so common. Price is very low (but it is also low from Ferrari I think)

Part #7 in the diagram. The dealer did mine with washers, I replaced those and used body shims for a more precise fit. It's part of Ferrari's TSB on window repairs.

Hey with Ferraris the body comes free with the engine, so you shouldn't complain too much, eh.

The body is free so you have $15.000 for the valve guid party.

    I have planned to change them. Ferrari P/N is 63767900 - 1.43€ each. 4 / window.
I have ordered them through redparts and if they cannot propcure them, I will look at BMW. Any idea what is the BMW part number?

I have seen the rails can be adjusted. I am going first to try with all new parts. Then only will move the rails. Thanks for the tip.

It always interest me when we hear the term "Bullet proof" to discribe the 12cyl engine,
And there quite a ffew on here who I have the most respect for who have used that term,
Can you imagine a Corvette having a $15.000 shop bill after 20.000 miles.
We deride Ferrari on these forums week in week out for the "Sticky problem" but
heaven forbid we would ever say a bad word the engine,

Daniel- No doubt they had their warts. John's 550 needed valve guides, too, and was also apparently fitted with the brass instead of bronze valve guides. Can you imagine the ancients using brass swords?

Warts I can accept but Leprosy !, Mine is an old man's car that lives in Florida no undo
abuse flat straight roads, If you take in to account dealer prices in 20.000 miles my
outlay will be close to $50.000,All FERRARI problem's, body Pininfarina perfect,
The much bad mouth auto gearbox GM based perfect, I think you get my rant.
I am lucky to driive such a beauty but we should stop calling Ferrari engineering
    "Bullet proof'.

Daniel- VWs had the same problem with early Rabbits and Sciroccos. Had to change the guides on our Scirocco, but it was not such a major undertaking and there were not 48 of them.

Like you said, at least she is pretty and makes great sounds. At least great sounds when she is running well.

My car was built in 2005 you would think they would have had a clue by then,
Without you, Brian and a whole bunch of Fchat members the Ferrari expereance in
the US would be hard to stomach, There is a reaon they have had to go with such a
long warranty with the new cars.
