Hi, So my fan only operates on the max setting which it does fine. No other settings work. From the threads and previous experience this looks like the fan blower resistor pack is the cause. If that sounds reasonable does anyone have a pic / info on location ? Plus is this a true Ferrari part or is there a non branded Ferrari alternative ? PhilC
It's a Bitcon/Delphi Diavia unit produced for Ferrari. Ferrari P/N 64280200 I think they are getting hard to find. Even second hand ones are hard to find. They can be repaired, depending on how damaged they are. Non-Ferrari DIAVIA units can be modified to suit, but even these also are hard to find. I recently saw a Lamborghini Diavia regulator for sale which might be suitable for modification if your unit is badly damaged. Expensive, though. Here's an interesting, ongoing thread on the subject: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/360-fan-resistor-valve.653173/ The Ferrari 360 shares the same "fan resistor valve" https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/mg-zs-rover-45-climate-control-repairs/ If you can access the internals of the unit, you may be able to assess the damage. Best case... You may only need to replace two power transistors (with some more robust transistors/MOSFETs). Another thread here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f430-cabin-fan-runs-with-car-turned-off.568157/page-2#post-148332443 (EDIT: That's a F430... I don't know how close they are to the 456M type)
Here's a second hand F430 fan regulator which may or may not be suitable (different Ferrari part number), but has the same basic DIAVIA part number 133000/3 https://www.redbaycars.com/webshop.html#!/ferrari-550/products/electric-fan-regulator-part-nr-65230100 645 Euro !
Here's the Lamborghini version, but it's a Diavia 133000/3.2 https://www.corsaxotics.com/products/lamborghini-murcielago-lp640-air-blower-unit-regulator-oem-0045006742-133000-3-2 https://www.ebay.com/p/905169508
Thanks that’s really helpful. I’m going to try and locate it today. I’m guessing it’s going to be in the passenger footwell and accessible. Would all that be true ? Phil C
In the passenger footwell, but very difficult to get to. May involve dash removal. Here's the location on a 550: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/147674174/ Thanks to Ryan @AVIMAX for the pics
If it’s the same as the 550, it’s a real pain to get to with the evaporator unit in the car. I had mine repaired by Technozen Electronics a few years ago. Note on his site he says the resistors don’t just fail, something causes them to fail. In my case, the blower fan had sucked in the foam from the doors that control the recirculating function. The hinge on one of the doors broke and the covering on the door was ripped off and sucked in.
