I had to replace the radiator in my 2002 six speed recently and the mechanic said the lower elbow had been cracked and repaired (banged) before I did the same. I am surprised that there is not a conversation on about the 456 rad being placed too low in the car where the lower large elbow is susceptible to be banged. Only the plastic skid plate covers that elbow which means nothing protects it. The shocks were all replaced by the previous owner in 2017. Is there a chance the front replacement shocks were set too low or can they be adjusted higher? I drive the car in sport mode at all times. A lift kit would also be a great addition.

Ride height is adjustable using the threaded spring perches. Ride height specs are in the WSM. Best to compress the springs, on or off the car, before adjusting to prevent damage to the threads.

Ferrari is famous for the poor quality springs. It could be that after 20+ years they are sagging. As far as vulnerability of the radiator, 456 and 550 suffer from that. The damage you described I have seen on many 456's.
