Just to show that even these daily drivers can be taken on the track, here is a picture of my car at speed under heavy breaking. Interestingly it was good enough to keep up with a not too well driven GT3 but needless to say I was squeezing every ounce of power, brake and tires out the car. Still is was a lot a fun tossing the big GT around, especially coming off a full track day with my Spec Miata... :)

AMEN! Here is my 1994 GTS doing the same thing. Like your 456 it is not something you see everyday!

My 456 MGT was running on the heals of GT3s, it must have been the aformentioned not sogood drivers because we are not supposed to be able to do this.

Nice to see the 928s out and about also.

What do you lap at TWS CCW on street tires? Just curious, I used to have a XJS V12 with a 6 sp manual and suspension and all the race prepped M3 guys hated me...

Do you mean R compound tires? They are street legal afterall. Keep in mind the track (surface and some corner profiles have changed since the last time I ran any of the street cars out ther...4+ years ago) but I think my S4 could get around there in about 2:09 or so. Probably faster with a better driver. I might have done a lap quicker than that but it would not have been by much. A friend with a stripped out 83 928 S on R's could get around there in about 2:06-07. His was a 5 spd car.

My race car on slicks with its sad and pathetic 220HP in the hands of a driver better than me can break 2:00. I have seen some Dinan M5's get below 2:00 as well! SMOKING fast and they are big heavy four door cars! I saw an RS America 964 lap the track at about 1:53! That is WICKED fast for an RS-A! A couple of GT3 Cup cars at 1:46ish! YEOW! Of course a winged formula Mazda can do it in the mid 1:30's...I can't even imagine!

...yes some "R" are DOT approved, I was thinking perfornance street tires. Those are good time for a big car. My XJS did 2:06 on street tires and nudge the 2:01 on DOT "R" but those would only last a weekend before cording. My Formual Contimental did high 1:40s with a spec engine and low 40's on a tweaked (cheater) engine. Absolute blast but you get really beaten up by the track - no comfort. Makes driving the 456 feel like you are cruising on a large couch :)

    Jag,

You DA MAN! If you can hustle an XJS around at 2:06 and a F-Conti down to the low 40's you are FLYING around that place! Well done! My hat is off to you! I have the same experience w/ R's on the 928's. The fronts won't last a weekend! The rears last for 2+ weekends, but it eats front tires like no tomorrow!

Maybe I'll see you out there sometime! Keep an eye out for me. I am easy to spot...usually the only guy in a wheelchair unless Bill Lloyd is out there (he drive a 911 though).
